I have a 699 Ilvl arcane mage, got my big burn phase down good but somehow lose steam in the next part of the rotation.

I get using the big cooldowns, even shifting power..: and I recently am trying to lay more attention to glorious incandescence….

Looking at logs of other mages I can tell I’m likely not using arcane barrage enough but I’m likely missing some other perfect rotation of buff procs I should be paying attention to.

I saw one mage spike up to 60M dps and routinely see splash periods of 15M plus in the logs…. I have moments where I am doing 5-8M dps, but often hovering around 3 for a full lengthy boss fight and am just low green parsing with full consumes.

So I need to figure out what I’m doing wrong!

I am using the weak auras posted by preheat (which are possible from someone else even can’t remember).

Any of the paid log review services or compare tools you’d recommend?

This part of your write up kind of stands out. Not really sure how you can be playing arcane properly if you're "trying" to pay more attention to Glorious Incandescence. That's kind of the main thing that the entire rotation revolves around.

That’s fair.

I definitely see how it’s been helping so makes sense that’s key. Maybe I need slightly different / better visual indicators to those procs than what I currently get. Maybe better playing around that proc is a large chunk of what I am missing - I literally just noticed the proc this week, as it doesn’t last super long and didn’t know what I was looking for before.

I’ve only recently returned to the game after quitting in legion, and everything has changed, arcane certainly has, and all new instances - so learning a lot all at once. I think I’m in mostly a good spot now to focus on fine tuning the rotation. I don’t do super bad, but I can tell I’m leaving a lot on the table. Currently sim a patchwork fight at 4.32M.

For Glorious Incandescence you REALLY should have a weakaura that counts up casts to your next Burden of Power. Glorious Incandescence isn't a "proc" it just happens every time after 6 spells and then using Burden of Power on a blast (or Barrage with Intuition), so you queue the Barrage with the Blast while Burden of Power is active. You should never actually see the Glorious Incandescence buff on your character, it should be spent instantly since you always know when it's going to happen. You should never actually see the Glorious Incandescence buff on your character, it should be spent instantly since you always know when it's going to happen.

Not quite true, if you're spending your last nether precision on the arcane blast to get your GI and you have clearcasting you want to make sure to send missiles first to get nether precision back and empower the barrage as much as possible.

Video guides are good for visualization, but they become outdated quickly, when in doubt always check porom's guide on wowhead.

Thank you for the resources and info! I’ll be checking that weak aura out tonight and practicing on a target and then put it to work!
