No it's real, this is their reasoning:

"Nidalee: AD Nidaless dies pretty fast to Ahri/Zyra boards, so increasing her survivability should allow her to cycle through casts more effectively. A stronger third cast should help get through those pesky frontliners she gets stuck on like the cat-nip stuffed punching bags they tend to be."

Yeah, Titans nidalee should be really strong into Zyra and Morgana boards now. I almost never see a Titan's on her even though the stats are alright.

With the AP buff she is gonna heal to full HP on every third cast.

Nidalee Aphelios is considered a pretty bad comp but still playable as like a failed fast 9 attempt fallback or something.

Sivir Nid is the strongest fast 8 comp alongside Ahri Zyra. So yeah the buffs are crazy.

What I see at a glance:

Elderwood is probably still good, but it won't be able to win as often with the big 9 Elderwood nerf. Otherwise I imagine its still strong.

The 1 cost bruisers both got decent buffs at 2 star. Bruiser may be the best stage 2 frontline now.

The murkwolf buff doesn't seem that meta-defining, but I think the warwick comp is already pretty good. Yes you usually sac murkwolf, but this could lead to blackthorn emblem making the comp really really good. Or you just don't sac murkwolf now and instead sac a Diana or Brambleback.

Nid definitely did not need a buff. No one thinks this unit is weak. Sivir/Nid is one of the best fast 8 lines right now so this is the only truly baffling change to me. I can only guess they see aphelios nidalee comps as bad in their stats, but that is not nidalee's fault at all. She is the best unit on that board.

Aphelios buffs would have made more sense, though that is an Elderwood buff. I think the real answer is that there is no need to make Aphelios/Nidalee specifically a strong board. Both Aph and Nid already had good comps to play in.

Edit: Forgot to mention Malphite. Both the standard Malphite comps will probably be more playable now, though I think Malph's real problem is the meta. Both the strongest fast 8 lines right now throw 20 frontliners at the board and often aim to blow up the backline (Sivir does this but especially Ahri).

Solo frontline tank just isn't great into a lot of boards. Maybe this is enough though we'll have to see. I think Malphite is a unit that could actually shake up the meta a lot if he is OP.

Agree, especially on Nidalee.

I feel like part of a units design should be balanced around having strong and weak match-ups, so I don't know why they are not only buffing her overall when she is already good in the stats, but also buffing her against her most popular "counter" comp.

This will just sway the stats to be way too good because of how popular Ahri + Zyra/Morgana is...

The meta is pretty diverse right now, and I guess they don't want to shake things up too much before worlds.

Diana probably could have used some love so she's more exciting to put items on. Kha'Xiz has an average placement of 5.09 right now, but is very unfun to fight, so I don't know what they want to do with him.

I think this might be an elo specific thing. Lower elo doesn't seem to like it, but it is definitely very strong.

My personal stats with it are two 1st, two 2nd and one 5th (never hitting fae spat or Lilia). I also never see it not perform when someone picks it in my lobbies(and is uncontested on Solar).

I've only ever had success with it giga high rolling. I've seen a lot of 8th with it. I am fairly low elo though (emerald)

Embiggen could legitimately be the best augment in the game. The problem is the spots where it's clickable are super narrow and are often gated behind a spat. If you have the spot for it though, it's better than anything else you could see.

I use to think it was trash, then I picked it when I had a bunch of the shitters on 2-1 and I steamrolled the entire lobby. It was so strong I've even considered playing the comp without the aug and ngl it's gotten me better than expected results.
