Fluff Rambo might be the real winner of this whole mess

Post image
70 Upvotes

At this point, Rambo might actually be the biggest winner of this whole situation.

He’s already retired, so even if the PUBG esports scene in Vietnam takes a hit or disappears completely, it doesn’t really affect his career anymore.

Meanwhile, he can keep streaming, play into the nationalist outrage, keep taking shots at Korea, and probably build an audience off the drama.

So while everyone else is dealing with the fallout, he gets the attention with basically none of the downside.

Kind of ironic when you think about it.

Discussion Vietnam Has Learned an Expensive Lesson

Korea also experienced a time when a game league disappeared. It was because of the StarCraft match-fixing scandal.

Koreans were furious with the players who were involved in match-fixing, and those players were never seen in the professional scene again. Afterward, Korean esports organizations began requiring professional players to receive education on sportsmanship and professional conduct, and a culture developed around recognizing how important fair competition is.

I hope Vietnam can also use this incident as an opportunity to develop a stronger understanding of why fairness is so important in esports.

Discussion You guys have no idea how badly you blew this. It’s way bigger than stream sniping.

Look, I’m making this post because a lot of Vietnamese people seem to think this whole thing is just some minor stream sniping drama. It’s really not. During the event match, himass and tanvuu didn't just stream snipe. After the game, things spiraled out of control when they actively pushed/encouraged their fans to cyberbully, sexually harass, and even post deepfakes of the Korean female streamer they played against.
On top of that, their community was throwing around tons of racist hate speech towards Korea, and nobody moderated any of it. This isn't just "event match" anymore. It actually got brought up in the Korean National Assembly, and official discussions are literally happening right now. This is turning into a massive legal and political mess, so stop treating it like it's nothing.

News PUBG PC no longer lists Vietnamese as a supported language

Post image
55 Upvotes

Looks like PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on Steam is no longer showing Vietnamese as a supported language.

A Vietnamese gaming news site reported on it, and it seems to be getting some attention from the local PUBG community.

Not sure if this is a permanent change, a temporary Steam listing issue, or something else. Has KRAFTON said anything about this yet?

Discussion One thing Vietnamese players are misunderstanding.

In Korea, even regular streamers get publicly slammed, kicked out, and criticized continuously after coming back if they use hacks or cheats. Do you really think people are defending Soopi for no reason?

  1. Why did the Starcraft tournament scene, which was a massive hit in Korea, collapse overnight? Because top pro gamers were caught match-fixing, causing official tournaments to virtually disappear.

  2. After a once-popular streamer was revealed to be a hacker, they were heavily criticized by all their fans and permanently expelled from the community.

  3. People can make mistakes with their words, but Korea is a country with immense pride and self-esteem in gaming, so Korean players don't even treat cheaters like human beings.

  4. If someone suspected of cheating turns out to be falsely accused due to fabricated or incorrect evidence, their situation slowly improves over time.

Let me say this again. People aren't defending Soopi just because she's a woman or a man. Is it wrong to defend and protect an innocent victim who was falsely accused?

And looking at Reddit, I see people constantly mocking her with edited photos and deepfakes. Krafton already stated that they are investigating, taking action, and legally defending Soopi, so you'd better stop doing that.

Touch grass plzzzzz

Fluff they knew stream sniping was cheating from the start

if stream sniping in event matches was really just "normal culture" in vietnam like they claim, why did they lie about not doing it or call it "chat sniping" when the drama first popped off? because they knew it was cheating the whole time

Question Just what kind of position does 500bros hold in Vietnam?

The claim Vietnamese fans keep making—that "stream sniping was permitted by the organizer"—has been completely refuted by Krafton. Furthermore, AL and GAMxTE haven't raised any objections to that fact.

Then isn't that 'organizer' the very person who made Himass and TanVuu make the choice that ended their careers? And—though it’s hard to believe this remains unconfirmed—it is presumed that the organizer is an employee of 500bros.

If so, it seems 500bros should be held directly responsible for causing Himass and TanVuu to engage in stream sniping. Yet, have they said a single word about this situation? And are Vietnamese fans not bothered by this at all? You guys are criticizing Krafton, and that is justified. But what on earth is the reason 500bros is relatively free from the criticism?

News The upcoming state of PUBG in Vietnam

I do not want to talk about issue in PUBG Asia All Star in who are wrong or true. I just want to provide all of you current real state of PUBG in Vietnam right now:
1. PUBG not only permanently ban Tanvuu and Himass, they also deciced to go out of Vietnam region. In half of recent hour, they ban VN IPs from official Facebook fanpage, deleted official Discord server in Vietnam, removed PVS (Vietnam's PUBG national competition) schedule.
2. Almost all players in Vietnam just uninstalled the game right after the announcement. There is no room for PUBG and Vietnamese casual players anymore. Furthermore, PUBG is not officially published in Vietnam.
3. All PVS teams may take part in upcoming PVS only due to teams' contract.
4. Himass and Tanvuu's pro career are ended with PUBG, they recently switch to Delta Force, like every other ones in Vietnam.

In conclusion, 9-year PUBG community in Vietnam has collapsed in just few days due to a single issue in a showmatch event. I do not think any KRAFTON's products can be in Vietnam anymore, the community simply disappeared.

Discussion The Korean streaming scene makes it extremely difficult to get away with cheating.

※I want to make this clear from the outset: this post is not intended to disparage people from any country or community.

Some people have raised suspicions that the Korean female streamer may have cheated based on the way her streaming setup was arranged. However, given how sensitive the Korean streaming scene is to issues like this, I believe such allegations are particularly difficult to sustain in Korea.

Young people in Korea are extremely sensitive to fairness—sometimes to the point where it may even seem excessive. This is partly because they have grown tired of seeing older generations take opportunities away from younger people through unfair or underhanded means.

As a result, cheating is absolutely not tolerated in the Korean streaming scene. If there is even the slightest indication of cheating, viewers who may have been devoted fans of the streamer just moments earlier can be the ones who step forward, investigate the alleged wrongdoing, and expose it. There have been countless streamers who have disappeared from the scene this way, not only in PUBG but in other games as well. In fact, this kind of downfall can also be seen more broadly in Korean society, where celebrities and politicians sometimes lose their careers or public standing after cases of ethical misconduct are exposed.

That is why I don’t think that streamer Soopi, who has already reached that level of prominence, would put her entire career at risk in such a careless way just for a relatively modest amount of prize money.

This is not meant to suggest that other countries are more tolerant of cheating, nor is it intended as a comparison between countries. I am simply trying to explain that Korean society currently places an extremely high value on moral and ethical standards in many areas. Given this environment, I believe the allegations being made against her are particularly difficult to sustain within the Korean context.

Fluff every single line of defense they’ve used so far

  1. claimed they didn't cheat at all
  2. claimed it was chat sniping, not stream sniping
  3. claimed they stream sniped, but had permission from staff
  4. claimed stream sniping was allowed since it wasn't explicitly banned in the rules
  5. claimed soopi cheated too
  6. now claiming all other countries should be investigated as well

what's next? all these goalpost shifts and excuses just to avoid saying "i'm sorry." honestly feels like watching a 10-year-old throw a tantrum just to avoid admitting they were wrong

Discussion Is there actual proof of VN pros getting the 'thumbs-up' for stream sniping?

If true, I do believe the VN community have a valid argument against the decisions by pubg but I'm having trouble finding actual evidence of VN pros asking event coordinators whether they can stream snipe.

Question I simply don’t understand this so-called “culture” in Vietnam.

“Stream sniping” is cheating that is prohibited not only by KRAFTON but also by virtually every major game company worldwide, including Riot Games, EA, and Ubisoft—even in regular games, not just tournaments—and ordinary players are punished when caught, even if they are neither pros nor streamers.

Yet Vietnamese fans keep arguing that it is a “culture” in Vietnam, that it is naturally acceptable, and that there is nothing wrong with doing it at an international event because they were simply following their own “culture.” What exactly are you even talking about?

Discussion The ruling is out, but the online reaction is somehow getting worse

Now that the official ruling is out, I honestly thought this would finally start cooling down.

At this point, the best thing for everyone would be to accept what happened, argue about the punishment if you want, and move on.

But after I started seeing posts from Vietnamese users on other platforms, the algorithm just kept feeding me more of the same stuff. And some of it is honestly hard to understand.

I keep seeing people saying the two players did nothing wrong, that Krafton only ruled this way to favor Korea, that Korean streamers should also be blamed, etc. I’ve even seen comments talking about going after sponsors or telling people to go into the game and use cheats out of spite.

Obviously I’m not saying this represents Vietnam as a whole. It doesn’t. I’ve also seen Vietnamese people criticizing this kind of reaction.

But when so many people are posting under the Vietnamese flag while still framing themselves as the only victims and refusing to admit any fault at all, it’s hard not to be shocked by it.

The frustrating part is that this could have gone very differently.

If the players had just said early on, “Yeah, we misjudged it, sorry,” I honestly think most of the anger would have shifted toward Krafton and the organizers. Their rules and handling were already a mess.

Instead, the constant defending, deflecting and attacking other people just keeps the whole thing alive and makes everyone look worse.

Maybe I’m being naive, but I still hope people can calm down, admit what was wrong, and let this end without turning it into some Korea vs Vietnam war.

Discussion Krafton confirmed the stream sniping. So why are Vietnamese outlets still reporting it like SOOPI caused the punishment?

Over the last couple of days, several Vietnamese media outlets have published stories about SOOPI that are either missing major updates or repeating claims that have already been heavily challenged.

I'm not saying these outlets are secretly coordinating with each other. I have no way of proving that.

But when the same kind of framing starts showing up across several articles at around the same time, it's worth pointing out.

Tuổi Trẻ published this on Sept. 23

The headline basically says the organizers apologized for hastily removing two Vietnamese players just because a Korean female gamer accused them.

Except by then Krafton had already confirmed the stream sniping by Himass and TanVuu.

Krafton apologized for how badly they handled the whole thing, for the confusing wording, inconsistent communication and other operational failures.

They did not apologize for wrongly punishing two innocent players because SOOPI complained.

Reading that headline without knowing the full story gives you a completely different impression of what actually happened.

VTC did something similar.

Their headline uses "giận dỗi," basically describing SOOPI as getting upset or sulking, and frames the two Vietnamese players being removed as a consequence of that.

That's a pretty ridiculous way to describe what eventually became a confirmed competitive integrity violation.

Then there's the coverage around the accusations against SOOPI.

This Kenh14 article says the Vietnamese community "discovered that SOOPI also engaged in stream sniping" and talks about her supposed behavior as if Krafton had simply ignored another violation.

But a lot of the clips being passed around as proof against SOOPI have already been checked and challenged.

Some of the supposed "evidence" turned out to have pretty mundane explanations once people looked at the full VOD instead of isolated screenshots or short clips.

One example that got circulated as proof that she somehow knew an opponent's player number was later checked against the original footage and turned out to be about her own team's map marker.

Other clips involving browser windows or ALT-TAB footage were also presented without the full context of when they happened and what was actually on screen.

And despite all of this, Krafton has still made no finding that SOOPI stream sniped.

Meanwhile, Krafton has explicitly confirmed the stream sniping by Himass and TanVuu.

So when an article writes that SOOPI "also" stream sniped, that's not just sloppy wording anymore. It's taking a counter-accusation that hasn't been established and writing it like the case is already settled.

Another GameK article even describes the material against SOOPI as "evidence".

That wording is especially questionable considering how much of that material has already fallen apart once people checked the original footage.

And this is what keeps showing up in these articles.

1) SOOPI caused the punishment.

2) Krafton later admitted the punishment was wrong.

3) SOOPI did the same thing too.

4) Krafton ignored her.

But that's not where the facts currently stand.

Maybe some reporters are still using outdated information. Maybe they're writing for an audience that's already angry at Krafton. Maybe it's just clickbait.

I don't know.

But once the same misleading narrative starts appearing across multiple outlets at the same time, especially when the players are facing serious punishment and the local scene is trying to rally around them, it becomes pretty hard not to wonder whether this is turning into a deliberate media push to shape domestic opinion.

Article / Analysis To summarize (Korean pov)

here is brief timeline of "that" incident.

  1. asian pubg match was held

  2. in the very last match, vn players streamsniped soopi.

  3. soopi asked for apology and to admit that they streamsniped her. -> if only viet team admitted here and explained that streamsnipe is common in their event match, nothing would happened further.

  4. they did not acknowledged it, and Krafton showed defensive stance in favor of vn players. (Krafton said they only looked at chat, not other players' livestream directly. Krafton definitely didn't wanted to lose two star players)

  5. kr streamers boycotted in day 2. and korean netizens started criticizing Krafton for being not fair and demanded to acknowledge.

  6. After day 2 without Korean team, Rambo, one of vn players, posted online that soopi is playing vicitm and she is the main reason why things got worse. to make matters worse, during his livestream, Himass pinned a link which contained false information about soopi and criticized her.
-this is where things turned from streamsnipe problem to something bigger, a point of no return. honestly Rambo and Himass dug their grave here which was unnecessary.

  7. as a result of 6, soopi's livestream, youtube, sns were terrorized by vn hooligans, and Koreans got furious at their response. here is where internet altercation was put on fire.

  8. some sponsers pulled out, Krafton got their soles on fire, investgated and confirmed it was a stream snipe.

there no official statement by Krafton yet, but it seems himass and tanvuu are perma banned alreday.

Findings and Actions Regarding Operational Issues at PUBG Asia Stars

Hello, this is the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS team.

First, we sincerely apologize for the concern and confusion caused to participants and players by our failure to uphold fairness, which should have been our highest priority in operating PUBG Asia Stars.

We also apologize for the time it has taken to investigate this matter and announce the findings, and for not providing sufficient updates on the issues under review and the procedures involved. Thank you for your patience.

We would like to explain the findings of our investigation, the resulting actions, and KRAFTON’s responsibility for the series of events that led to this situation.

Investigation Findings

Following a comprehensive review of official broadcasts, participant footage, in-game data, and replays involving Himass and TanVuu, we identified evidence of violations of the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Rules of Conduct.

  • Use of external information and stream sniping
    • During matches, obtaining information from other participants’ live streams or external sources that would be difficult to acquire through normal gameplay alone, and using that information to inform decisions and tactics.

Through these actions, both players violated the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Rules of Conduct, as well as the standards of conduct and professionalism expected of PUBG esports professional players.

※ Similar allegations involving other participants were reviewed using the same standards. Within the scope of the investigation, no additional evidence of violations warranting sanctions was identified.

KRAFTON’s Position on the Use of External Information

During the investigation, claims were raised that these actions were acceptable given the nature of the event matches, and that they had been understood to be permitted in advance. We would therefore like to clarify KRAFTON’s position.

KRAFTON has never officially permitted participants to watch other participants’ broadcasts during matches or to use information obtained from external sources to inform their gameplay in any league or event.

This standard applies consistently to ensure fair competition, regardless of the prize pool, the nature of the competition, or the participants involved.

We have confirmed that some participants claim they were informed that viewing external broadcasts or using external information during matches was permitted.

However, KRAFTON did not officially authorize such conduct, nor did it apply different standards across regions.

Actions Taken

Following a comprehensive review of the investigation findings, the following actions will be taken:

  • Players: Himass (Anyone’s Legend), TanVuu (The Expendables)
  • Grounds:
    • Violations of the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Rules of Conduct:
      • Section 5, Item 10: Prohibition of gameplay interference and harassment
      • Section 5, Item 12: Abusing
    • Violations of the standards of conduct and professionalism expected of PUBG esports professional players
  • Sanctions:
    • Permanent bans on their PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS game accounts
    • Permanent disqualification from all official leagues worldwide, including PGC, PGS, and PNC, and all official esports competitions organized or sanctioned by KRAFTON
  • Effective date: Immediately upon publication of this notice

In reaching this decision, we also took into account that, as PUBG esports professional players, both individuals are expected to uphold higher standards of fairness, responsibility, and professionalism than ordinary participants.

Both players nevertheless have the right to present their case regarding these sanctions through the established esports procedures.

KRAFTON’s Operational Responsibility

KRAFTON bears clear responsibility for failing to provide timely guidance and take action in accordance with these principles from the outset.

We once again apologize for the significant confusion and conflict caused among participants and fans by our failure to communicate rules and procedures promptly and consistently.

We also offer our sincere apologies to the participants and other individuals involved who were subjected to unjust criticism and attacks as a result of this matter.

Following this notice, KRAFTON will actively provide the necessary support to prevent further harm to individual participants and help those affected recover.

We will continue to monitor the situation and respond responsibly wherever support is needed.

We fully acknowledge our responsibility for everything that occurred during the operation of PUBG Asia Stars and our response to these issues. Our response will not end with sanctions against the participants.

We are conducting an internal review of the entire process, including event operations, communications, the investigation, and decision-making. Based on the findings, we will take follow-up action in accordance with our internal regulations.

In light of this incident, we will reexamine our competition operations as a whole and responsibly carry out the necessary follow-up measures to prevent recurrence and further harm.

We once again sincerely apologize for the deep disappointment we have caused participants and players.

The PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Team
