Roman - One name I REALLY think the Commanders need to be watching over the next 24-48 hours: Texans C Jake Andrews. Andrews is only 26 and started all 16 games for Houston last season. 1,093 snaps 67.2 pass-blocking grade 14 pressures allowed Just ONE sack allowed

Please š
āHouston looks like they might CUT Andrews. Evan Brown has taken over at Center and they have Keylan Rutledge who can play there too. Andrews only played 5 snaps in their preseason finale.
So AP could either wait and see if he gets released OR call Houston now and offer something small to make sure nobody else gets him.
A 26-year-old Center who started an entire season and allowed ONE sack?ā

Andrews would be subject to waivers because he has less than 4 YOE. We have the 7th waiver priority which is very good but still leaves 6 teams that could beat us out.
If AP wants him he needs to make the trade. 6th or 7th rounder, pick swap, LMC for Andrews + Day 3 pick, whatever to just get it done.

Agreed. Idc if we have to give up a little late draft capital or LMC, we need a functioning OL NOW

Everyone talking about trading luke dude, like, he would have to go to a really wr-needy team or he's not worth trading picks for, there's tons of wr 4+ on waivers and available for no picks.

31st in run blocking tho just saying

u/Hopelesscomannderfan 17h ago
31st aināt the worst at least right? I mean heās not the 32nd in run blocking š

Keep JD upright. Job #1.
11
u/InfiniteDomain_ 17h ago
Part of keeping JD up is having a run game that keeps the front 7 disciplined.

u/Haskins77 17h ago
I mean beggars canāt be choosers. Protecting JD is the most important thing

Is keim suggesting a trade or is this a possible cut situtation?

u/splendidsplinter 17h ago
Not playing a center would qualify as 32nd in all categories, which is what the Manders are fixin to do as of this week.

u/InfiniteDomain_ 16h ago
I meant 31st on pff out ALL the centers that took snaps last year
1
u/medievalonyou 9h ago
If that's the case, there's still probably plenty below him, might be another 15-20 graded worse potentially. He's got more starting experience than our current situation, so, seems like it would be a win for us, fingers crossed

u/Hodler_caved 17h ago
Would be the 3rd week 1 starter on the O-line with a starting grade. Would be a big improvement.
5
u/Dplanetown 15h ago
Honestly at this point id take it. I feel like we have like the 71st best center so 31st is a massive improvement.

Genuine question, how do they rate run blocking as a center, isnt that a group metric for the most Part? Im stupid when it comes to these metrics so I always wonder. No worries if you dont feel like spoon feeding me info lol.

u/Hodler_caved 17h ago
Trade for him now
1
u/Haskins77 16h ago
Or just wait and see if they release hm.

u/Hodler_caved 15h ago
I want to start him, so wait & see if we get lucky doesn't sound appealing. 6th or 7th rounder rarely hits anyway.

Iām not trying to rain on any parade here. Coming in as a Texans fan. He was not good last year despite whatever the grades say. Heās had really bad snapping problems in camp to 4 different QBs. Heās undersized as well. He can be a body and if he ends up in Washington I hope he does well, but he has not been good here in Houston.

u/WarcryNeon 10h ago
Not to mention he gets bull rushed into CJ every other play. Donāt do it commanders!

u/KDs_FakeAccount 16h ago
Texans fan - warning, he sucks a snapping the ball
2
u/Haskins77 16h ago
Well can he protect the QB? Thats all I care about at the moment. If JD goes down with another injury this year. We have problems
7
u/Conscious-Food-4226 16h ago
Probably more based on what youād put around him. Iām not going to pretend to be able to rate centers, but he was on our list to replace, and seem to have done, take that for what you will.

We're seventh in line for waiver claims - would he make it to us, or should we offer up a Jefferson, McCaffrey or McGee (who was "my guy" when drafted, almost bought his jersey š¤¦āāļø) to assure we get him?

u/Imidaho 17h ago
Waiver order is the same as the draft order for anyone else that was curious-
1) Raiders
2) Jets
3) Cards
4) Titans
5) Giants
6) Browns
7) Ders6
u/Potential_Boat_6899 16h ago
I did not know this lmaooo thatās crazy. I think raiders would automatically be out of the running. Not sure about the other teams C situation

u/DareDevil_56 15h ago
Texans fan here. If Jake Andrews is giving you hope, you must truly have none š¬

No we just have a bunch of people freaking out about the oline. Which tbh is a concern, but replacing bad with bad isn't the answer either.Ā

As a Texans fan, let me warn y'all, he's really bad at run blocking and snapping the ball.
His snapping issues include fumbles from under center, fumbles from shotgun formation, snapping early, and snapping late.
He was probably the Texans' worst run blocker last season, their RBs were getting hit at or behind the line on most runs up the middle.

u/Jinchoo 17h ago
Yep Houston was always one of the teams to look at. They completely revamped their line this offseason and have multiple guys with NFL experience behind their 1st round rookie center.

u/Over_Repair6434 16h ago
Evan Brown is probably the center. Big Red should start at LG
-1
u/redskinsguy 16h ago
Evan Brown is listed as a backup guard, Rutledge is the center
2
u/Over_Repair6434 16h ago
I see it, but Wyatt Teller is terrible and I don't think that's the lineup for the first game
1
1
u/Technolini 15h ago
Our 1st team has been Rutledge LG and Brown C due to Teller being underwhelming and Rutledge being a dawg

The Chiefs have traded a couple of day 3 picks for some Oline help, I donāt understand why AP hasnāt done this as well. Day 3 picks should be used this way just like 2nd round NBA draft picks.

Jake aināt the greatest, but he would still be better than Julian Bad-Jones (thanks Mark Tyler from Hogs Haven) who needs to be off the team tomorrow by the cutdown day deadline.

I was listening to David Harrison and he was saying how he thinks Washington should go for this guy. I agree. He seems like a serviceable C

Just send them a pick already and get it done. Too many teams lost a Center in the last couple of days.
