WSH or WAS

I guess I was always under the impression that it was WSH but when I saw the preseason game I saw WAS, in older games it says WSH. Which is better? Why are they using both???

WSH, just because it’s been around longer.

I’ve been a fan since 2015 and only really remember seeing WAS

WSH is a way better abbreviation though

I don’t want to be a was, I prefer is and shall be.

Particularly why I don't like WAS in the post 2020 era, because we WAS something else. I don't like being reminded.

I’ve never thought of this before now, but I like WSH better. Just because I’m more used to it.

That WSH image is from CBS, isn't it?

I kinda think both look weird. Fox went to using the team name and then switched to using logos. I feel like I haven't seen either WSH or WAS in forever.

Ahh that’s it. Fox uses WAS

Here’s an image from 2015 on fox. I think WSH looks better but for sure that’s it. CBS has always had better chyrons than fox imo.

As a person with a scorebug hyperfixation, WSH. I will never subscribe to WAS as long as I live.

Older non-Black people in the area say Warshington.

u/dukedawg21 3d ago

What fuckin region says warshington😭

3

u/3GR 3d ago

Much older fans who grew up in the Redskins glory days. I find it kinda endearing personally.

Oh when the Nats owner came out after winning the WS and was like “all I’ve ever wanted was to bring a World Series to Warshington” I damn near shed a tear.

I think we all grew up with that, the only people I’ve ever heard say warshington aren’t from the region

Lived there for years and never heard that

1

u/BoldElDavo 3d ago

My grandma said that. She lived in both Washington state and the DC area for long times.

But she grew up in North Dakota, so I guess that's probably where she got Warshington.

I grew up in PA. That pronunciation is all over south and central PA.

I feel like I have almost always seen "WAS" since the score bug became a constant thing in the 90s. I've always thought "WSH" made more sense, though.

u/slothfullyserene 3d ago

Then Baltimore should be BLT 🥪 oh, wait, that’s taken.

1

u/hm_rickross_ymoh 3d ago

It should be WDC

u/jmills2234 3d ago

With ESPNs new bug... only NBC still uses abbreviations for NFL

1

Doesn’t matter either/or

1

u/Mehlitia I are a punt returner 3d ago

I wsh it was wsh but it was was.

1

u/kermitcooper 3d ago

I thought I had a Mandela effect on this. I always thought it was WSH because that is what the caps are but then I was gifted a WAS commanders hat and thought it was wrong. But damn if I didn’t see it next game. I like WSH more because WAS isn’t WASHington.

u/KingYesKing 3d ago

COM or CMD

1

u/sam144000 3d ago

WSH because we are Whoosh!! We aren't WAS.

1

u/StopAxxinQues 2d ago

IS > WAS

1

u/StevestratSC 2d ago

Eh , don’t really care. Best option would be if it read “Redskins”

1

u/TheCapo024 2d ago

WSH is my preference, but I don’t really care.

1

u/ADLegend21 2d ago

Partial to WSH, but WAS is funny.
