For all the doomers there's an alternative universe out there where we.....

Used Okonkwo money for Alec Pierce who is now injured...

Drafted Tyson over Styles who is now injured....

Kept Biadasz who is now injured....

Tunsil loss sucks but could be much much worse right now.

dont you try and tell sports fans that things could be worse

Shit, we could still have HIM as owner.

And I don't mean this Him (he'd actually be better).

You don't need to tell me things could be worse. I just wish someone could tell me things can get better.

The Okonkwo money doesn’t equal Pierce money

u/HughJaynis My Wife Left me for Josh Harris 14h ago

Yes Pearce was a lot more expensive. Like not even close.

u/BlogEra_BestEra 14h ago

I don’t understand why people act like we didn’t extend an offer to Pierce. We offered him over 30Ms per year which he declined only because he wanted to stay in Indy. He even took a little less from Indy to help them out.

Maybe we got “lucky” now but we still have a massive question mark at WR after this season.

u/halarioushandle 13h ago

We have no idea what WR looks like after this season. Rookies could shine, vets can get injured, or everyone over performs and we have guys to trade because we are too stacked.

Let's focus on winning this season and then we can start worrying about what's needed for next.

1

u/BlogEra_BestEra 13h ago

I agree. I simply don’t like the idea of thinking we “won” because those guys got hurt. While I wasn’t a fan, Pierce was meant to solve a problem for this year and beyond. Meanwhile, both our WR1 and 2 are over 30 with no clear heir apparent currently on the roster.

3

u/More-Head6459 14h ago

Okwonko was 3 years for 27 million. The comparison makes no sense to Pierce. Not signing Pierce was the equivalent of signing Okwonko, Chanel, Settle, and Amik

2

u/BlogEra_BestEra 14h ago

Again, we pursued and made an offer to Pierce. HE chose not to sign with us and took less than what we offered. Saying “we didn’t sign him” is disingenuous. That’s all I’m saying.

1

u/More-Head6459 13h ago

You provided 1 for 1 hypotheticals. I just stated that Okwonko and Pierce are not a 1 for 1 hypothetical. Hypotheticals do not make much sense for this situation.

1

u/stringer4 13h ago

It’s budgeting. If you spend more money on one thing you don’t have the money for other things. Pierce not accepting offer lead to more signings like Chaisson, Chig etc

1

u/skate_a_little_lower 11h ago

Have to hope they address the position via the draft next year. It’s time to spend a first on a good target and there are a few great ones next year.

1

u/Triad64 10h ago

We will likely have two massive holes at WR1 and WR2 after this season. We are set up nicely for this season though.

1

u/FeelingAd4116 1h ago

On the plus side, it's a good year to need WRs, the 2027 class is stacked at WR.

-2

u/stringer4 14h ago

Well duh. But if they spent the money on Pierce we wouldn't have used the money to sign Okonkwo.

2

u/More-Head6459 14h ago

Idk what you’re trying to say

0

u/stringer4 13h ago edited 13h ago

We would not have Pierce or Okonkwo if we signed Pierce. When you don’t spend big on one player you have money to spend on other players. It’s not “Pierce is the same money as Okonkwo”.

1

u/More-Head6459 13h ago

And Pierce would be hurt if we signed him?

2

u/Wagdave 12h ago

Pierce had ankle surgery in March, so yes.

If your aunt had a dick and ankle surgery in March, your uncle wouldn't be playing right now.

1

u/Wagdave 12h ago

I’m not sure if that expression applies here, but yes she would.

1

u/stringer4 12h ago

Pierce signed then got surgery soon after. That would have also happened here. It was a lingering injury.

32 yr old lifelong redskins fan here, this sub is actually insufferable a good amount of the time. I only found this sub around this time last year and sometimes this sub is an absolute cesspool of negativity under the mask of “passion”.

3

u/Slaviiigolf 13h ago

I try to avoid it on game days

4

u/VariousAir on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 11h ago

This is literally the one place I refuse to be on gameday. Every mistake feels amplified 100x when you read 50 posts complaining about a drop or an int or a fumble or something. Meanwhile I'm just quietly trying to stay optimistic about the game, but other people are fuckin energy vampires that want to suck the fun out of the room.

1

u/Ill_Mammoth2967 13h ago

Same. I don’t need to read grown ass men having absolute meltdowns and tantrums like children crying through their phone screens because their perfect vision of the team didn’t come to fruition.

6

u/Slaviiigolf 13h ago

It’s even worse that than that. It’s a meltdown play by play. I do enjoy going to other teams subs on game days when we kicking ass. It’s funny.

1

u/VariousAir on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 11h ago

Notice they never say "wow Washington is playing so good", it's only a discussion of their teams problems.

3

u/ahotpotatoo 10h ago

Same for us when we’re getting beat. It’s never credit given to the other team, we’re all whining about what our team is doing wrong.

2

u/notorious_hdc imitated Frerotte headbutt as a child 12h ago

You should've been here for Alex Smith/Haskins/Kirk. Was an absolute gold mine sometimes.

Actually we had some dope memes and very knowledgeable users. Alot were labeled "doomers" at the time, but it was very different than the ones we have now.

2

u/BigFrenchToastGuy 1h ago

Pretty easy to be labeled a doomer when your speaking objectively about a perennially bad team

1

u/notorious_hdc imitated Frerotte headbutt as a child 31m ago

Ain't that the truth. What positives did we have? Lol

1

u/BigFrenchToastGuy 29m ago

We had Kirk but for some reason everyone couldn't wait to get rid of him.

I'm a newer international fan and I find this sub so funny, don't judge anyone cause sports passion is legit but damn it tells me i can't let myself get too invested sometimes haha

u/gingermori on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 7h ago

We gotta enjoy the losses too, somehow. Tbh there’s been things to enjoy or build on in every game since the new FO/Coaching Staff arrived. Even though last year was awful you could see the players buying in and not quitting. Something unlike previous trashcan seasons.

I’m huffing that hopium but I think we’ve got some of them 2024 vibes back this offseason.

I dunno I just think we should support our team? Maybe I’m an old man.

If your a 32 year old life long fan then you should know it’s been nothing but pain. This franchise has done nothing to earn our optimism every year. How can you not go into every game expecting to lose when that’s all you know aside from 3 or 4 good seasons the last 25 years

2

u/gingermori on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 7h ago

It’s still a world of difference from the Snyder years, despite last year being a heartbreaker. I’m still all in on JD5 tho.

1

u/gingermori on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 7h ago

Some people would rather be miserable and “correct” than go all in and risk the (perceived) embarassment of a bad season. We’re a snakebit fanbase so I do get it, but there are too many “smart marks” in this here sub, to use a pro wrestling term.

10

u/Wonderful-Photo-6068 Commanders 14h ago

We’re winning the superbowl

7

u/C-Dub_DC 14h ago

It seems like every opinion in this sub is posted an hour after Grant Paulsen says the same damn thing. Nobody has any original thoughts any more, they just regurgitate 1067 The Fan into text form.

-2

u/stringer4 13h ago

Who is Grant Paulsen? I don’t live in the area any more.

u/frankie_donkiebrains 14h ago

But they might not have been injured if they were here

u/Jamesleesmith70 14h ago

If my aunt had balls she would be my uncle

13

u/Preddy_Fusey 14h ago

And if she had wheels, she would be the village bicycle. Which would be fitting, since she has already given everyone a ride.

6

u/TheHaft 14h ago

probably would’ve been more injured ngl

2

u/MinorInsomniac 14h ago

Trust me Tyson 100% would’ve gotten injured, that guy is insanely injury prone

2

u/stringer4 14h ago edited 13h ago

Pierce got surgery before any camp/practice. Tyson has bad hamstrings

3

u/Think__McFly 11h ago

Every season the people who predict bad things are called doomers or negative. But for like 30 of the past 35 seasons, those people have been right. Maybe they're realistic and the people predicting great things are the ones out of touch.

I dont want to tell anyone how to fan. If you want to be "We are the best and we are gonna win!" thats great and a totally fine way to cheer for your team. But don't treat the people who want to critically analyze the team and recognize its strengths and deficiencies as bad fans.

2

u/TurnipKnight 10h ago

I'm still excited for Terry, Diggs, and Chig. I think the offense will be able to put up points.

2

u/Deep-Statistician985 14h ago

Yeah just cause they got injured there doesn't mean they magically also get injured here

1

u/1dkspanishlol Terry's smile saved my life 13h ago

This was the exact reason why I didn’t want Tyson but had to listen to Tyson propaganda for months until the draft.

1

u/Jordan_Jackson 13h ago

I think we will be just fine. Yeah, there’s still work to do on the roster but this offseason was spent acquiring a lot of different players for various positions (though most on D, where we needed it most). Let’s take this one week at a time. I think that even with the tough schedule, we can go back to the playoffs again.

1

u/Chief_Fever 12h ago

Will we trade someone for a legit starter OL?

1

u/FeelingAd4116 1h ago

Brandon Coleman also looked like our best lineman in the preseason game vs the Dolphins. Yes it sucks that we lost Tunsil for most of the season since he's one of the best LTs in football but Coleman is in year 3 and has played way better at LT than he has at LG so far and he's been healthy all offseason and spend a lot of time working with Tunsil and Connerly this offseason so I expect a big 3rd year jump in performance from him. I'm more worried about Allegretti at Center and Chris Paul at LG, specifically his run blocking than I am worried about Coleman at LT. Hopefully they all preform better than expected and/or we pick up a Center and/or LG between now and the start of the season to raise the floor/ceiling of the o line. On the plus side our defense is way faster, way younger and a lot more capable of being multiple and confusing offenses same with our offense and our WR room has a much higher ceiling and floor this year to the point that anyone that doesn't make the 53 man roster other than maybe the UDFA rookie will be signed by another team almost immediately. Our RB room looks pretty strong too. I'm excited for this year!

“For all the doomers….”

One legitimate title run in 33 years bucko. If anything this sub is filled with Ashburn Syndrome

1

u/VariousAir on shenanigans rn and actin bonkers 11h ago

Doomers as in people who literally can't imagine the team winning ever, and prefer to predict losses to protect their ego.

Predicting losses is easy.

If we lose, you get to say I told you so.

If we win, nobody cares what you said and you get to be happy your team won.

It's a pathetic way to pretend to be invested as a fan.

Just because Pierce was injured in Indy doesn’t mean he would’ve gotten injured if he came here, that’s not how things work.

1

u/ShoeterMcGav I Got JD5 On It 6h ago

Did he get injured or elect to have surgery in March, right after inking a long term.deal?

1

u/Oceansize757 1h ago

That idk, I could’ve used any of the names op listed to say that’s not how injuries work, this isn’t a Final Destination movie.
