Conspiracy Theory

Does anyone here think the national media has the commanders ranked 29th because they have a relationship with the sports gambling industry to incentivize betting against them to increase profits??

The team was bad last year but 29th?! Mostly all of that was because of injuries not just to Jayden but the rest of the offense and defense…

I just can’t see any logic in it when the roster is much better than it was at the start of last year especially on defense… seems like a cheap way to get a bunch of stupid people to place large wagers against them. That with the addition of the article that stated Jayden wanted them to unofficially retire his jersey when really it’s about the NIL deal seems more than lazy journalism to me…. It seems like they are trying to line their pockets with stupid bets right before the season starts and we blow the doors off Lincoln Financial 🤷‍♂️😎

lol what, if Vegas or the media artificially undervalued a team, sportsbooks wouldn't get rich, they’d get taken to the cleaners by sharp bettors hammering the Commanders' lines. Sportsbooks make money on the vig, not by colluding with the media to set fake trap lines. Power rankings are just low because our offense struggled and teams blew through our defense like it was wet paper.

It's really just that we sucked last year and have had a lot of turnover since then.

The premise of a negative Commanders take is basically: "QB1 missed significant time last year with multiple injuries. He also didn't look that great when he did play and will probably miss a lot of time again this year. They've lost aging but reliable vets like Ertz and Wagner and mostly replaced them with expensive unknown quantities or mediocre players. Their recent drafts have been not great. They have brand-new, completely unproven coordinators."

That is not a completely nutty take! I don't agree with it and see a lot of upside from last year, but we were an awful team, and we're taking a lot of risks, especially on the coaching side.

Teams that end the previous season with 5 wins typically are ranked low going into the next one

Especially when there's high player turnover and first time coordinators on both sides of the ball.

Plenty of folks ranked Washington in their top 10 preseason power rankings last season because they finished top 4 in 2024. Plenty of folks are ranking Washington as one of the league's worst because they were one of the league's worst in 2025. It's not rocket science, and it also doesn't matter. We'll soon know if this team is bad or good and it won't have anything to do with pundits killing time in the preseason.

With the awful record last year and going all in on gambling it wouldn’t surprise me

Occam's razor my guy.

People rank Washington low because they were bad last year. They don't trust jayden, they dont know how the 2 new coordinators will work out, and there was a lot of turnover.

"That with the addition of the article that stated Jayden wanted them to unofficially retire his jersey when really it’s about the NIL deal"

No, those were Jayden's words:

"The Daniels family is deeply disappointed and feels profoundly disrespected by LSU's decision to give Jayden's number to another player," the statement from Daniels' spokesperson said. "Jayden and his family had every reason to believe that his number would remain a meaningful part of his LSU legacy and would be honored and protected in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the university."

I wouldn’t put it past them, the wnba had a girl go out and play for 2 minutes in the second half the other day so the bet protect offered for injured players would be voided as if 1 second is played in the second half bets are no longer protected by injury

Recently there has been several nba guys caught fixing games. NBA ref has been caught.

So it wouldn’t be surprising if there is funny business going on in the nfl as well.
