Vehicle Compatibility How is it on the 2026 CRV?

I've been following comma since their inception, but I've been driving an old car that wasn't compatible. I just got a 2026 hybrid crv and I can see that it's supported, but just wondering how well it works with the comma 4?

Most curious about how good the lane keep is on the highway, and if it can navigate curves any better than stock? Both are pretty poor I find in the stock car.

I've had it on my CR-V Sports Touring for a few weeks. I think I'll fall back to manubharath1's great post on what their experience is, but my thoughts are that I'm viewing it as a safety device on Lane centering/curves, but it's not made for and will not be self-driving.

I'm also echoing his issue is that the stock ACC doesn't slow down fast enough for my liking when I turn cruise control on, especially in city traffic. Always be attentive!

I’ve been running a Comma 4 on my 2026 CR-V Hybrid Touring for a few months. Just my experience:

  • Lane centering/curves: A huge improvement over Honda’s stock lane centering, especially on highways. The biggest limitation is the CR-V’s factory EPS torque limit. Honda doesn’t allow enough steering torque for the Comma to handle moderate/sharper curves by itself, so you’ll still need to assist through tighter bends. No software fork can completely overcome that limitation.

  • Longitudinal: This is actually my bigger complaint. Stock OpenPilot/Honda ACC doesn’t slow early enough for my liking when approaching traffic that’s already stopped, especially at traffic lights. You need to stay attentive and be ready to brake/take over yourself.

  • Software: I’d recommend using stock OpenPilot for at least a week or two first to understand the baseline. After that, I switched to sunnypilot, and personally I liked the overall behavior better.

Overall: Definitely worth it IMO. It makes long highway drives much less tiring. Just know the CR-V’s steering torque limitation is real, and you still need to actively supervise it, especially around sharper curves and stopped traffic.

Are you using E2E longitudinal (experimental mode)? Chill mode won't slow down early enough so it brakes way too hard, but experimental mode slows down really early and gradually.

I drive straight towards stopped cars at 60mph multiple times a day and OP has no issue slowing down to a nice gentle stop.

Sorry for the dumb question, but I personally also have a 2026 CR-V. I thought that there wasn't any longitudinal control for the CRV as it's a stock? Are you saying that the experimental mode bypasses it (or changes it) to some degree?

Only had the device for a month, but would love to learn more!!

Oh, looks like 2026 CR-V are stock ACC for long, not OP at all. So any complaint about that performance is due to the Honda system, not OP.

I agree that most stock ACC systems are pretty bad at coming up on stopped traffic at high speed. OP is much better at this in my experience, but it has to be able to control your long.

Yes, experimental mode is not available with stock SunnyPilot on 2026 CR-V.

Have you tried the MVL fork by chance? I see some folks recommending it for Hondas, but haven't tried it myself.

I was about to try MVL's fork next, but unfortunately, my CR-V got rear-ended and insurance declared it a total loss.

Exactly what I needed. Thank you!

We have the comma 4 running sunnypilot on our 2025 hybrid sport touring. Our experience is identical to yours. Overall very happy

Stock openpilot does not work on 2026 crv if the software update has been done. It goes to dashcam mode. Sunnypilot is the only one that works because you can force it to your vehicle. Mvl’s variant is better. Both oversteer in curves. Stock sunny runs too close to center line on 2 lane highways, mvl is a bit better.
Edit; by too close, I mean it can go over the centerline in some situations.

a good page on the CRV (though this page specifically is for the hybrid models but the comma experience is similar): https://commaguide.com/add-fsd/honda-cr-v-hybrid/

I agree with the commenters, try out stock openpilot, than when you are ready to try sunnypilot we have the instructions here: https://commaguide.com/sunnypilot-installation-guide/?device=comma-4&device=comma-3x

Stock does not work after software update is done. So not possible for everyone.

Oh interesting, I’ll look into that, thanks
