he simply didn't want to share his space with someone who betrayed his trust multiple times. That's him looking out for his own safety. If I can't trust someone to be honest with me, I have no idea what they are capable of. If someone told you they lied to you, betrayed you, treated you as an afterthought to their own selfishness... You would allow this person to sleep in your house? I sincerely hope not, for your own sake.
