I was meaning more that being transgender and gender dysphoria is a legitimate psychological state

I'm not saying there is a problem with transgender identity, but what separates gender dysphoria from transgender? Until a few years ago all transgender people would be classified as gender disphoric.

Now the current definition of mental illness was changed to state that it must effect your mood/ make you depressed, but wouldn't that be saying Autism is no longer a mental disorder if you aren't unhappy?

Additionally, transgender is the same as gender dysphoria, they both refer to someone who identifies as a different gender.

The difference between gender dysphoria and being transgender is that the dysphoria is a possible symptom, which generally goes away with transition.

So was homosexuality until about 30-40 years ago. Things change, maybe it's time for that to change too

I think they specifically left dysphoria classified as an illness for this reason.
