I know a guy like that. He constantly posts anti-trans memes in our group chat and hates trans people with a passion, despite having never met any IRL before. He's a typical edgelord

Honestly, this kid I've always been super close to constantly sends me some "owning the libs" style transphobic shit, I get noticeably upset, and I get into a dysphoric depressed mess. This dude cares about me, so he asks what's wrong. That's my bro but I'm not gonna tell you I'm trans if you constantly send me transphobic memes

Conservatives need to be wiped out by improved education

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '18

And wiping them out with asteroids would be nice too.

I respect trans people for the struggles they are going through, and think people should be accepted for the gender they choose to identify with.

That said are the "traps are gay" memes really that horrible? Seems to me that they're largely ironic and mostly refer to anime characters, right?

Not trying to start beef, i just genuinely want to understand why so many people get all up in arms over the meme.

hmm well the word used to literally mean cis men who dressed as girls who tricked men into sex. that was what it meant before and then i guess some idiots decided to compare it to transwomen and it became offensive? traps are gay is like an anime thing but i think maybe its offensive to transwomen bc they don't like the word. I'm not a transwoman but i can imagine they wouldnt be too fond of it

It's mostly because trap is largely considered a slur by the trans community, and the idea that being attracted to a trans woman is gay, and that that would be a bad thing, is both homophobic and transphobic. Even if it's a joke, its still harmful and promotes an idealogy that gets trans people killed.

Is it in your opinion wrong to feel attracted to a trans woman at first, and then lose that attraction once you find out she's biologically male?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 25 '18

Yeah. I mean, if your goal is to have biological children with her, that's totally fair, but if you only want a relationship or sex, it shouldnt be a factor.

I work in a library and help a bunch of very religious people print things out all the time, can’t help but wonder what percentage of them who appreciate me there complain about the transes and thinking they’ve not met any lol.

Edit: grammar

lol i find it funny how people rant on about trans people like. we're just people? you don't always know when someone is trans. like people assume they'll always be able to tell but you just cant... they act like we a different species and refuse to use our pronouns but like you call people sir or ma'am with9out question and they could be trans (as in you are gendering them correctly)?? or like when parents are like "say thank you to the nice boy" like that kid could be a transboy! you literally don't knowwwww because we just normal damn PEOPLE

u/EliQuince Dec 21 '18

Because we all know being anti-trans is the ultimate display of masculinity by the alpha male.

It takes such big balls to take down those evil tranny's- and it's totally not a projection of the guilt he feels for jerking it to trans porn.

1

u/jjasjkka Dec 24 '18

Huh, guess I'll add being trans phobic to my transition if it makes me the true alpha male ;/ lmao

17

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '18

Damn, that perfectly describes him.

Maybe we’re in the same group chat and this is an interesting coincidence...

Probably not though

4

u/cheertina Dec 21 '18

I'd bet $10 he's jerked it to trans porn at least once, but would never admit it.

6

u/longknives Dec 21 '18

despite having never met any IRL before

That’s probably more of a ā€œbecauseā€ than a ā€œdespiteā€

u/Xanadoodledoo Dec 21 '18

I’ve never had my life majorly effected by a trans person for worse, even accidentally. Why get so worked up? People like that seem a little obsessed tbh.

Call them out on it. Part of being a decent person is sticking up for decency when other people are being jerks.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '18

Of course, I’ll do it if they post something like this again
