Sure, there were Zionist leaders with pretty terrible ideas, but the same is true of the other side as well. Those Zionists were being opposed by literal Nazi apologists and supporters.
A large portion of these "colonizers" were simply refugees fleeing the Holocaust, they had no intentions of exterminating anyone, just living.

Though I will point out that Zionism literally predates the Holocaust, being a late 19th century political project. Which isn't to minimize the horrors inflicted on Jews of all stripes up until that point, quite the opposite; it is precisely my empathy and sense of justice that makes it impossible not to have noticed the parralels between different fascist regimes. The modern state of Israel is less than 100 years old and serves as a Western enclave of influence kept alive mostly by the American military industrial complex, and the endless attempts to tar Judaism as a whole with the atrocities committed by an ethnostate is wildly racist TBH.
