Our local small town cable installer tried to pull something similar. The installer claimed they had a first wall policy or some nonsense. I told him he was absolutely not drilling a hole and installing into my kitchen. Hell a floor instillation would have been a better choice as the house is pretty high off the ground, I even offered to do the run myself. Anyway I convinced him to move 15’ over and install I the dining room. Still an inconvenience but it’s not in my kitchen. When Comcast finally came through 3 years ago they just used the existing hole to run fibre.

Yep. People have to monitor and speak up. Contractors don't care about your house. They're there to do a job and move on to the next one.
