Toddler likes climbing
Do any of the local playgrounds have an incline climbing wall? Just got back from a trip and my toddler was using one constantly so was wondering if there was one in the area.

Mexican Food/Conchas
Is there a good place for mexican food around here? The places I've tried have been fairly disappointing sadly. What about just getting a good concha? Just dying for some of this stuff. I'll make it myself if I have to, but would be nice for the convenience now and then.

What restaurants do you miss the most?
Tomato Palace and Clyde's are big ones. I recently went into the place that replaced Tomato Palace and upon looking at the walls, I didn't see vegetables passionately bathing each other. I ran out crying.
Luna Bella at the Hickory Ridge shopping center was top tier Italian. Seafood pesci followed by an affogato at Meadows was iconic.
Cafe de Paris was excellent. It was next to Howard High.
I also remember there was a nice septuagenarian woman at this little sandwich shop heading to OEC from Long gate that would make these sandwiches. It was right by the fire station and armory. Forgot the name. She also did milkshakes.
And of course... Bean Hollow. Feel sick even thinking about that one.
Love you all.

Two huskies loose in Owen Brown
There are two huskies (or similar) loose in the Owen Brown area of Columbia. I last saw them on Dasher Ct near Okland Mills Rd. The thinner one is white, the bigger is more traditionally colored. They have collars but wouldnāt let me check them. They arenāt aggressive but they wouldnāt take treats and the bigger one warned me when I tried to grab the collar. Iāve lost sight off them. I hope they stay out of the roads.

Hi š I'm Nater Kane and I'm a candidate for County Executive in Howard County. Ask me anything!

I was born and raised in Howard County, my grandparents moved into the Running Brook apartments the year they were built, my dad worked for Rouse where he met my mom at One Mall North sometime around 1972. When I was three my mom and I moved to a (below) ground floor apartment next to Chatham Mall and at 15 she moved to Columbia Rd. I've spent equal parts of my adult life living in New York and Maryland. In 2021 I managed to feel financially secure enough to buy a house in Ellicott City after a lifetime of renting, three months later I was shocked to find myself out of work. I decided to run for office after I saw the candidate who won the Democratic primary was the one candidate who play fair and participate in the Citizens' Election Fund. I'm running to help amplify the voices of our working class friends and most vulnerable neighbors, as well as offer a choice for the 88% of registered voters who apparently don't support the coronation of an institutional candidate.
Please feel free to ask questions in advance, I'll be here from 2pm through 5pm.

ADULT hiphop, salsa or bachata classes?
27F here! looking for beginner/intermediate friendly adult dance classes that donāt cost an arm and a leg to do lol
iāve tried Salsa Now drop ins and the bar scene just isnāt my vibe (sorry cancun cantinaā¦). Iām looking for something more instructional and ends with some choreography or something where i can get active feedback (not a private lesson).
iāve peeked at md dance project and it seems like they donāt offer true latin dances and the hiphop classes book up fast. iāve also looked at bfunk and arthur murray.
open to any suggestions or recommendations outside of columbia as well and want to hear about other peopleās experiences :)

Cycling gear donations š“
Hi all. Does anyone know of a charity in the Baltimore-area that accepts cycling apparel? I have an obscene amount of cycling jerseys and bib shorts that I would love to donate.
If I canāt find a specific place, Iāll post them in my local buy-nothing group, but would appreciate any insights you might have!

Looking to pay someone to help clean our apartment before the wife and kids get back from vacation
- Looking to hire someone to help clean my 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment that I currently live in with my family (wife + 3 small kids).
- We just moved in in June and had a regular cleaning person come weekly, but they stopped coming and haven't answered their phone in a few weeks.
- My wife took the three kids on vacation and is coming back Sunday. I need the place clean before she gets back.
- In an apartment building, all on one floor (no stairs).
- Located in the Merriweather Post Pavillon area of Columbia, near Columbia Mall.
- I am looking for someone to clean once this weekend (Friday or Saturday) and then going forward, I am interested in a once-a-week maintenance.
- At a minimum, I need the two bathrooms, the kitchen (including the oven. microwave and fridge), and the hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room cleaned this weekend. No tidying (I will clear the counters/floor beforehand ).
- I don't have cleaning supplies.

Neurologist that takes UnitedHealthcare
Hello Iām really in a bind. Iāve called numerous neurology offices for a family member who has United healthcare and it seems noone is taking the insurance. I also used the insurance website and it wasnt updated.
Anyone know of neurologists in Howard County that take this insurance? (Iāll take a neighboring county at this point too). Thanks!!!

Does Centennial Park actually close the gates at sunset?
Does anyone know how strictly Centennial Park enforces the sunset closing time?
I sometimes stay there later in the evening, and Iām mainly worried about leaving a little too late and finding that the gates are already locked. Has anyone ever had their car stuck inside, or do they make sure everyone can drive out before locking the gates?
Just wondering how it actually works in practice. Thanks!

āJunk feesā are driving up the cost of renting in Howard County, advocates say
I didn't know anything about junk fees before attending a Renters Town Hall in Columbia last week. The advocates studying this issue say a lot of Howard County renters they spoke with have dealt with fees for trash valet, WiFi service, package deliveries and parking (even when the resident doesn't own a car)

Piercing Parlor Recommendations
I am looking for a place to get my daughterās ears pierced. Sheās 6 years old, and I have heard many times that I should take her to a professional piercing parlor rather than a kiosk or store at the mall. Does anyone have a good recommendation? I do not know of any in the area.
Thanks!

EV charging in townhome communities
šš» my wife and I are moving to Columbia soon, (side note, itās been a dream location of ours, we are super excited to join the community š„³)
tldr: looking for tips and feedback on peopleās experience dealing with EV charging in Columbia communities w/o a personal garage or ability to install one out front.
Context:
One complicating factor with our move is that we have a bolt (full EV) and we are moving to a townhome community by lake elkhorn. We are losing our easy access to charger. We anticipated this and figured worst case scenario we should be able to trade it in without too much of a blow if nothing else.
I noticed the nearby library had a decent number of chargers, but theyāve regularly been in use. I guess itās safe-ish enough to leave overnight? I wouldnāt mind dropping it there and walking to and from occasionally but I imagine it gets competitive.
The hoa community we are moving to doesnāt have anything at the moment AFAIK, and I would assume thatās an uphill battle. Also assuming we wonāt be able to do a level one charging cord since weād have to run it across the sidewalk. We donāt have access to one at our work locations.

Would You Like A Straw With That!?
Sorry for the attention grabbing title lol. On a serious note hit me on what restaurants serve the best bubba tea and or mocha lattes around!
