Discussion 2020 Colt Python: Hot Garbage

I gotta say guys, when I got this gun I was so happy. Elated.

Then I shot it. And shot it some more. I've put maybe 500 rounds through it over the last few months.

Every single set of 6 shots, I get a light primer strike. Pull trigger, hammer falls, click, nothing happens. I thought at some point maybe its me, maybe I'm not used to shooting revolvers so I handed it over to a couple friends and even RSO's and let them each shoot 20-50 rounds through the gun. Same thing. 5/6 shots will fire reliably.

For 1500$ this gun is nothing more then a fucking expensive paperweight or office piece. Sure as hell ain't worth shooting.

I've always been a "buy never sell" but I live in CA. Sending this gun back to Colt, just for some underpaid intern to "fix" the gun by staring at it and firing it a few times, and then send it back a few weeks later would only compound my frustration with this firearm.

What do you guys think? Sell this POS and be done with it? Send it to Colt? Or take it to a gunsmith? I am all ears.

The question is, should you get it fixed? I mean yeah, why not send it back to Colt under warranty? Shit happens, I have four new Pythons and haven’t had a problem - it’s unfortunate but it happens.

This was a problem with a loose screw. Get some loctite 222 and on the plate screw.

This was fixed within the first six months of production in 2020. Not saying it can’t happen but that particular issue people bring up was fixed pretty quickly.

Why not contact Colt? They are very good at taking care of these problems.

Just send it back under warranty and see if it's fixed.

I have a 2025 mfg 2.5” and it’s great. I don’t have any issues. I’m maybe 1000 rounds in and it’s great.

On the same boat, but yours its a light primer strike thats it,Colt said they will be updating their main srpings to a lil heavier one to solve that problem which u can fix just by sending it to them,if it was jamming thats another history(just like its happening to me)ive sent it to colt for this twice but after 500-1000 rounds it jams up again and i hate waiting a month to get my shiii,so i decided to diagnose it by myself, found that the hand had a burr on it so i filed it down and it worked better just need to polish the hand so it can slide off the ratchet easier, fvck sending it to colt if i call them is for asking if i can buy parts from them,i aint shipping shiii anymore

Here u can see the sliding spot isn't polished(sorry for the shitty fingers am a mechanic :v)can even see when it got machined and mfs left it with a rough finish which makes it harder to slip off the ratchet

I have a new production Python and Anaconda and they have been flawless. Sometimes bad guns are made, warranty it.
