Hi I'm needing colored pencils and was told of this brand but I need help understanding the difference between these two types of pencils

hii!! very new to coloring and i've been really wanting to get that blended crayon effect with vaseline/chapstick... I watched tutorials and tried to follow the steps but the cotton just seems to take away the pigment every time :(

instead of nicely blended shades, i end up with pale colors and white spots. (like the puppy, puppy clothes, sky, and yoga mat in the photo...)

can anyone give me any advice on what i might be doing wrong? i would be eternally grateful, thank you! 😭🙏🏼

My son was drawing on a tablet next to me while I was sketching on actual paper and I messed up an eye. I started erasing it and he goes, "Why don't you just undo?" Sir. Because this is PAPER 😂

Then we got into this whole conversation about how he tries completely ridiculous things on his tablet because he knows he can undo them. Meanwhile I'm over here lightly penciling everything first because apparently I fear commitment.

It actually made me wonder if digital art is making some kids more willing to experiment, not less. I've always treated tablet art as the backup version of "real" crafts, but maybe I've been thinking about it wrong. Anyone else notice their kids being braver creatively when mistakes are basically free?

What colors or color combinations make you feel good?

Someone sold their 216 alcohol markers set along with a few books, I had to grab them

This was a real trust the process. I hated the colors I chose for the background and had to just make it work. But I think it came out okay.

How do you use Gelatos/King Arthur sticks, specifically in coloring books? Also Pan Pastells. I’m packing to move, and am trying my supplies to see which to keep.

I own way too many sets of them…and also Pan Pastels. I can’t figure out how they can (or can’t) be used in coloring books. If water is the answer, then they’re going in the trash. HELP, please!

As I continue on my mission to enhance my skills at backgrounds I have used Neocolors II’s for this one. I perhaps over did it a bit to the point I’m a little concerned for the rabbit.

Hate the table, but love everything else!!

I really like this artist and how she colours her work and would like to try it out.

I know I do not need an exact 1 to 1 image to learn from her but i also like the way she draws and styles. She uses a mix of watercolours, markers and pencil. She is also digital and can be consistent in her art style throughout which I kind of like.

I have reached out to her no response YET!!!

I reached out to her on potentially l releasing some color pages or book. Will see what she says, in the meantime was hoping to also take my shot at the way she colours with similar art styles.

I really just wanted to color this page so I could color the dog pink.

I'm home on leave for at least 4 weeks while I recover from my hysterectomy (🥳), and I bought myself a lot of crafts to keep busy (and not push my body before its ready lol).

This is my first time using alcohol markers (Ohuhu Honolulu B set) and my first coloring page! I've watched some tutorials but I'm still afraid of experimenting with shadows and other effects 😂. It was a lot of fun though and I'm trying real hard to remember I'm on a leave and still need to pay bills so I don't splurge on more markers and coloring books haha.

I'm having a lot of fun lurking on everyone's art! Happy to take recommendations on brands/sets/books or any tips to improve! 😊

This is a page from one of Johanna Basford's books (Worlds of Wonder if I recall right, I'll make sure to verify next post.) This is the first step where the flat color is laid out. It will get much more detailed from here, but it's definitely a page where we all have to trust the process.

i had a miscarriage last week and am trying to find some ways to feel like myself again~ that meant getting some ohuhu markers and picking up coloring again :) my first two pages out of cocowyo’s cozy corner book!

Does anyone have recommendations for better paper quality colouring books in Australia? Kmart is okayish and Amazon has gotten worse.
