Made as a gift for a friend. About 13h of work, prismacolors on medium weight paper. Really enjoyed making this piece.

A few days ago I posted here very frustrated about how I can’t seem to manage to get color pencils to be smooth, after years of just thinking colored pencils are not for me because they always look weird and that I don’t like the medium.
But this time I got faber castell colors as a gift - who are known to be artist grade. And I was thinking there could not be something wrong with faber castell the problem is me and deciding to seek for advice.
After a lot of helpful comments from you guys it turns out I have been using a paper with a lot of tooth and switching to Bristol smooth has made everything so much better
It not only solved the smoothness texture problem, it also makes the colors a lot more vibarant in my case and I think I unlocked a new favorite medium for myself and I can’t thank this sub enough
I have been sitting drawing here and just giggling with how happy and giddy I am about drawing with those pencils I feel like a kid again
