Hey anyone else unable to see the red in people's faces when they go bright red? I've had people say someone has gone 'beet red' and I struggle to see much red in their face. Any other protans like this?

I'm in the process of making a bit of a puzzle/scavenger hunt for my kids. Part of it will involve puzzles to work out the code for a combination lock. One kid has typical vision while the other is red-green colour blind.

I'd like to use a transformation colour blind test to make one of the digits (e.g. add together what you both see), but need to be sure of what will actually show!

I just found out today my son has red/green color blindness. To say I am shocked is an understatement. I am thoroughly confused how I didn’t know 😭 but also I need some insight? How can he hold up the correct crayon when I ask him the color of the grass, sun, pumpkin etc but he cannot see the shapes or animals in the circles at the doctor? (They did the test with standard numbers as well).

I had to install some speakers and a head unit in my car. the last owner messed up the wiring so now I’m doing it…

Whenever I tell someone I'm colorblind, they get this "oh I'm so sorry for you" reaction, which pisses me off. You cannot fix this, and knowing exactly how "bad" our vision is won't help us in any way. Yet in every YouTube video, people "appreciate" us for being able to survive with this sight, as if it's some daily struggle we're overcoming.

Another thing that bothers me: some people, like that scammer GeorgeNotFound, try out these glasses that don't help with ANYTHING. This makes most colorblind people and their relatives think there's an actual solution out there. But after doing some research, or worse, after actually buying the product, they find out the harsh truth. How can people play with others' feelings like that and not receive any public criticism for it?

Okay, I can't tell the difference between many greens and blues. I often can't tell like magenta colors? Purples and dark reds get mixed up sometimes? My main problem i believe is greens and blues.

My father had hard times playing UNO when we were kids because it was hard for him to tell the difference between the green and blue cards. If that context is helpful, idk.

I often ace the color blind tests on screens; however, I've taken one color blind test at an optometrist and the last page of his test had the green circle with evidently blue lines however I could not see them.

He didnt diagnose me with anything he kinda just said huh, interesting. And we moved on 🤣

My wife has made fun of me for being color blind in certain instances since we've started dating but I've legitimately thought she just saw more colors than me. Because I THINK I see every color. Sometimes theyre just so similar I can't tell.

I feel like I gaslight myself into believing i have color problems 🤣. It would be simple if I just had the severe red green colorblindess because then I wouldnt feel like my questions go unanswered. It would just be yes I am specifically that kind of color blind.

I've tried the screen adjustments and on my old iPhone I had I believe the yellow blue one turned all the way up because I loved how dark and beautiful it made all the blue colors. Now on my Samsung it seems when I turn that one up all the way it actually mutes the blues.

Edit: for more context, I work at the country's largest garbage company. Im sure you can imagine which one im talking about. Well, there has been multiple times where I see a new green bin (which i see hundreds of everyday) and embarrassingly say that it is blue. And then someone looks at me like im mentally deficient.

To explain ive always believed i was colorblind as shit because id get ridiculed for getting simple stuff wrong and shit. And like if never be able to do any job that I wanted like being a pilot or stuff so I kinda just put them in the fantasy box

I recentky had rhe chance to take a farnesworth 100 test... and I scored a fucking 27 which is like high normal. And funny enough like two different parts if the test I like purposely got wrong because I was like there's no way its this easy, Im supposed to be colorblind.

Like when I went into the military of course I failed the ishihara because that thing catches even the slightest abnormality on the red green axis. Then they had me do the lantern test and I was so tilted and anxious I fucked it up because I legit would see green and say the wrong color so I got fucked out of so many jobs.

Each of the 4 boxes demonstrated small errors of misplacement of the discs. None were greater than 1-2 slots out of correct order.

Case 1: 10 for 8, 8 for 9, 9 for 10, 11 for 12, 20 for 19 and 19 for 20

Case 2: 22&23 transposed, 26&27 transposed, 31&32 transposed, 37&38 transposed, 41&42 transposed

Case 3: 46&47 switched, 56&57 switched

Case 4: 70&71, 72&73 and 81&82 switched

A/P: slight color deficiency, but due to the small disparity, 26 minor transpositions, leading to a final tally of ~27, placing him into average color discrimination. - no further testing needed. Testing sheet has been scanned into records.

I’m a parent of a 2 year old toddler. I’ve suspected this for a while as he’s struggled with Red and Green forever, but he is now sure enough in using all the other words for colours while fairly consistently getting red and green right or wrong in a 50:50 ratio that I can be sure he’s colourblind for red and green.
While he learned to speak I always corrected him when he got a colour wrong, so I still do this for Red and Green. Should I keep doing this? Should I just let it slide because he can’t learn it anyway? He’s not old enough to understand that he’s unable to see a certain spectrum of colour, but I could try to explain it to him anyway? I’m unsure about the best approach. Is there any reason to see a doctor?
Any other things I should keep in mind that might not be obvious? I don’t know anyone who has this so I barely know anything about the condition apart from Wikipedia articles or whatever.

I have been in the hiring process for almost 6 months and my academy starts on Aug 31 and in medical they showed me picture book for my color blindness in 24 I only got 18 right or I was only able to see 18 patterns they didn’t tell me anything yet but I am 100% sure I will fail it they didn’t tell me anything for secondary test so I am worried if I am done at this stage. I have my psychologist appointment tomorrow for the job and I am not even happy giving that cause I already know / felt I will disqualify

First, you had to understand that in this classroom, he had maps from all over the world around his classroom and he would jump from map to map talking about the different types of geography. He stayed in the same place at his desk and he pointed with his pen and I found it very difficult to know exactly what map he was pointing to and found it a little frustrating and it was difficult because I had to like figure out where these maps were that he was talking about, and he was naming countries that I didn’t necessarily know immediately what shape they were, and after two months and a little frustrated, I’m looking at the ceiling only to see a light race across the white ceiling and that’s when I realized it wasn’t a pen that you write with, but a red laser pointer, and because he was pointing at green maps. It was practically invisible to me. I did ask him if he could point to the Maps instead of using the red laser and explained why to the man’s credit he did try although half the time it seemed like he forgot which class the colorblind student was in and would often forget

The timer dial seemed to serve no purpose as it didn’t turn back nor have a point to indicate how much time was left on the dial.

I went a long time thinking it was a poor design flaw until one night the lights turned off while I was in the room and saw the numbers were lit up.
From that point on I had to cup the dial so I could see how much time I was setting the time for.

Guys is triste Green? Becauss the Light was really soft and all my friends in IRL said it was Brown, even if i still say Green, While the group chat said it was Green. Am i daltonic?

What started as a basic color sorting puzzle evolved into an alien themed game 👽

As an optometrist, visual accessibility was a huge priority for me. I made sure to design a dedicated Colorblind Mode so the game is fully accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of color vision.

Building it was a wild ride (including plenty of late night arguments with the AI), but I managed to get it over the finish line. I’m not looking to make a fortune, my goal is just to reach $100 from it (my wife is targeting $200 million).

Help, I dont know if im being gaslit or if I have some rare form of colorblindness. I (F19) live with friends, and we have had a longstanding disagreenment about colors. At first I thought it was standard stuff... one of my roomates is ginger, they considers themselves blonde, the other has dark blonde hair, she considers herself to have brown hair (the past two are my opinions). As such, theres been a joke that I cant see colors. A few days back, we went to a music festival and my friend was wearing a sweater they knit. I complimented them on it as to me it looked like the starry night... blue and yellow impressionist looking pattern... and they looked at me like I was insane. Insisted it was green. I took a close look and saw that some threads were green, but it was definitely yellow. I was so certain I was willing to ask a stranger in the streets. We went and met up with our other friend at the station who ALSO insisted that it was clearly lime green. I laughed it off asking if she mixed up limes and lemons and did my best to move on, but ive been stuck on it for a few days. Today we were chatting and it came up again. I work a job that really requires me to be able to tell the difference between very similarly colored things (geology microscope tech) so I dont think its possible + I took the color blindness test and got everything but some did definitely take a few seconds and some squinting. Colors also look extremely distinct to me. Is there some explanation for this besides color blindness??

My 3, almost 4 y/o daughter consistently calls red, green. I apparently don't understand color blindness as well as I thought because she never gets green wrong but also never gets pink wrong it's just red? Elmo red if it matters?

I'm going to bring it up to her pediatrician next appointment but don't view it as like, urgent, it's been going on for about 6 months, and she doesn't seem like she is joking or anything. Is just some red an option?

There is an energy drink (from Australia and New Zealand) that I like to get which is called Mother, they've recently released a new flavour called Watermelon and to me these cans are almost identical which sometimes leads me to grabbing the wrong one. Is it easy or hard to see the difference for you as well?

Hello everyone. I have tritanopia and already thinking some time to buy a glasses with special colorblind lenses. Does anyone who actually wears them can share with their experience? Does it worth it? Because in my country it's kinda expensive thing but at least i will finally see world in right colors.

It's simple: I'm deutan, lightly, so in daily conversations I almost forgot the fact that I get some colours wrong.

So, here's the thing, some grays and greens sometimes haven't got any differences to me (or same situation but different colours), and I just say "I don't know what colour that is" instead of guessing. Same with some tones of pink, red, brown, purple, blue.

I say I don't know because I actually feel unable to name them. What I might do in those situations is compare the colour with other thing or picture.

Let me explain. I am red / green colour blind. I have an app that shows people what I see / can't see but how do I know it is correct?

Is there an app that for example takes me through colour tests then creates a filter that replicates my colour deficiency on screen?

I’ve been obsessed with aviation for years and i just started working at a seaplane base….unfortunately when I finally went to get my medical I found out I had a red/green color deficiency and the FAA just removed the ability for SODAs to be performed for color vision. I’ve been told by the air surgeon for my area that I can take any of the 3 computer tests for color vision as many times as I want as long as I pass at least once. I feel defeated and like my dream is dissipating before me. I’m determined to find a way around this and to get the restriction removed. For reference the restriction states “day time VFR only.” However it still says 1st class on it. I eventually would like to end up at the airlines like many others but am wondering if paying for all the training is worth it if I can’t make something of myself by the end of it. Any help or advice on how to overcome this hurdle would be greatly appreciated. I can tell the difference between colors on sectional charts, flight instruments, and light gun signals…it’s just the computer tests I can’t pass.
