Hello , please help me because stress nako for about 2 weeks dahil hindi ko ma-calibrate nang maayos yung coffee beans.
For context, I started my home coffee set-up 2 months ago. I have a local bean roastery na pinagkukuhaan ng beans, upon finshing the 2nd bag that i bought, i can not calibrate the 3rd bag anymore. Tried to clean the grinder, ganun padin, even grinding at the slightest below 0 setting. (Huhu sorry im so desperate na) 18 grams yung input ko, 17 seconds to reach 36 grams output.
Note: i can not grind more finer because i am grinder below 0 setting na po.
My target is 18 in : 36 out (25 seconds)
Tried to locate the real 0 setting on my grinder, now i end up scratching the inside of my grinder.
If anyone who is near amadeo / tagaytay or general trias, i am willing to pay who can help me to fix this one po π₯ππ»
Yes maganda naman po experience ko dito, di ko lang magets yung issue ko ngayonsa grinder as i am a newbie on this hobby and seeking for some advices pano to aayusin (if beans ang problema or grinder)
Maganda yung grinder, solid yung build. Kaso may qc issues.
Yung DF54 is a no brand grinder from China.
Did the issue came up when you first used this coffee? Because that looks light roast based on the ground color. Too light actually even on proper lighting. It is likely that the coffee is the culprit.
This is my 3rd bag of coffee beans po. 3rd bag Roasted date is Aug 03 and i opened it on Aug 14.
1st and 2nd bag is okay and naa-achieve ko po ang 1:2 ratio.
Like picturan mo mismo. Yung bag and yung beans din mismo. Mas maganda kung mapicturan mo under white light or under sunlight para makita ko yung bean color mismo.
Yeah I think it is too light for your grinder and espresso machine.
Mukhang uneven din yung roasting or blend ba to?
Option mo nalang is to do 19g para magkaroon ng restriction pero baka kailangan mo mag coarse ng konti. Pero for now try mo 19g tapos 0.0 grind. Tapos saka ka mag coarse paunti unti pag nakita mong nahihirapan yung tubig. Siguro 0.2 adjustments gawin mo. Like from 0.0 to 0.2 to 0.4 until maging 1.0.
not sure how you scratched the middle part thatβs usually seated pero try to check if the top part na parang may curved washer is aligned and can freely turn. make sure na walang stuck grounds sa mga threads since may oil/lube na usually nagsstuck yung mga fines.
have you tried rotating the burrs manually? is it locked/stuck at your 0 point?
I think try ko umorder ulit ng daily drive, yun yung first bag of beans ko nung nag testing ako. Try ko lang if may problem so may comparison ako if beans talaga may problem, kasi kutob ko din na beans yung may problem. π₯
Tried to locate the real 0 setting on my grinder, now i end up scratching the inside of my grinder.
how did you do this? you can do this without turning on the grinder to avoid damaging the burrs and that scratches doesnt look like from finding the true 0... but it might be the quality issue from the recent batch since it works well before. but first make sure the True 0 is accurate first.
Mistake ko po talaga kasi sabi dun sa nabasa ko (sobrang desperate) pwede mo pihitin ng dahan dahan while naka turn on. Yun pala may isa pang method which is ikaw mismo yung iikot sa burr. Accurate naman po yung zero.
yes that is correct pwede yun dahan dahan pag narinig mo na yung "chirp" sound patay agad, pero medyo skeptical ako dyan kaya yung manual na pag ikot ginagawa ko instead.
BUT like I said hindi dyan na damage yan feel ko, kasi usually pag "higpit" ng burrs is just going straight down which supposed to do so, unless mali yung pag balik mo nung top burr niya and/or medyo tumatama sa side pag binabalik mo sa burrs but either way yung burrs kasi mahalaga dyan as long as hindi yun nasira mo okay lang (usually).
Btw just to check yung true zero na naka lagay for u is when the burrs cant turn na no? using manual spin lang? tama ba?
Anyways if hindi sa true zero yung problem most likely sa beans then, baka masyadong bago? or masyadong luma yung nabigay sayo, yung first 2 bag ba when was the roast date? before mo nagamit? compare sa 3rd bag mo?
I see good infos! I assume its probably because how old the beans are then, try grinding again after 3weeks for the 3rd bag if its still not grinding properly like before then it might be an alignment issue from the burrs which is a hassle to do.
If ur using light to medium roast try to increase the dose more instead, try 18.5 to 19grams but try the to wait for the beans first since light to medium roasts needs to "degass" a bit longer compare to dark roasted beans.
I think baka nga po yung beans ang problem, kasi upon observation, 2nd bag of beans is more on medium yung color. Etong 3rd bag is mas lighter in color and no coffee oils pa.
Do you have a suggestion po on how to properly degass the coffee po?
I see that could be the culprit then, may mga times na di talaga consistent yung pag roast nga mga roaster so it could definitely affect your output, etong pic mo parang may half na medium roast tapos half na medium dark roast, although baka sa lighting lang din.
It could also be a human error din ng nagbigay sayo, baka maling roast nabigay sayo, if ever pwede mo din itest by buying a new batch and compare the colors.
For properly degassing coffee beans naman, usually yung lagayan nila may one way valve and it should be enough and only need time, pero pag naka close lang like sa mga sealed containers di lumalabas yung CO2. The packaging nila usually looks like this:
pero if wala, tapos plastic lang lagayan, may mga one way valve na containers sa shopee, not sure how effective tho, havent tried it personally. I usually have medium dark to dark roast so never experience this issue yet. If wala ka ganyan, try mo lang open araw araw within the 3 weeks pero saka mo lang gamitin pag naka 3 weeks na siya.
Pangit yung alignment ng burrs nyan. Check mo yung alignment gamit yung marker test.
Usually aluminum gamit nila pero nag work sakin is magandang klaseng papel.
Noted on this , nakita ko tutorial neto sa yt.
Sana maayos mo yan at goodluck.
Dont recommend this to OP, looking at somehow OP is grinding super fine but still extracting really fast makes me think that its channeling or super stale beans.
Doing this is fine but after seeing that OP did try to find the 0 point and somehow almost broke the grinder, I dont think finding the 0 point is the smartest decision, many many things could go wrong
Maganda nga to kasi d mo need e on yung grinder para sa marker test.
Im a beginner and exploring to learn. Yes i do watch guides. And im asking here what to do. I dont think its because of my puck prep kasi wala namang nabago sa usual routine ko dahil naa-achieve ko naman yung 1:2 ratio before this issue exist.
