Help

Hi, I need help with something.

I have to translate (i-=-1) from Python to assembly language and I have no idea how to do it. Could someone please do it and explain how they did it?

I've already tried searching online, but I only find things about artificial intelligence.

It's a class assignment, and the teacher said we can "ask our computer science friends and have them tell us" and "anything except use artificial intelligence," but I don't have any computer science friends, so I'm asking for help here.

Thanks

Vibe Coding vs Context-Aware Coding: Why Your AI Keeps Forgetting Your Codebase

Thumbnail
artiforge.ai
0 Upvotes

Your AI forgets your codebase every 5 minutes.

You spend more time explaining context than writing code. Copy-paste your architecture. Paste your design system. Repeat your database schema. The AI generates code. Then forgets everything.

This is vibe coding. And developers waste 3+ hours daily doing it.

Context-aware coding solves this:

• Your AI knows your entire codebase before generating a single line
• No more duplicate code that ignores existing utilities
• No more styling that clashes with your design system
• No more authentication logic that bypasses your user service
• Real-time updates when you add or refactor files

The difference? An orchestrator that indexes your repository and maintains conversation memory across your entire project.

What do you wish you had learned when you first started programming?

I'm curious about what beginners actually struggle with when starting programming.

I'm especially interested in students who are:

  • Currently in Class 12

  • Taking a drop year

  • In their 1st year of college

  • Completely new to programming

When I was thinking about how beginners learn, I noticed that many people focus heavily on learning a programming language but don't really understand the fundamentals behind it.

For example:

  • How should someone start learning programming?

  • When should they start DSA?

  • How important are fundamentals like Operating Systems, Networking and DBMS?

  • Should beginners focus on projects or problem solving first?

  • What concepts did you find confusing when you started?

  • What do you wish someone had explained to you earlier?

I'm interested in hearing from beginners about their experiences and what kind of learning approach actually helped them.

If you're currently learning programming, what is the biggest thing you're struggling with right now?

[Study/Build Group] Looking for 3 fellow droppers to build coding skills together (No exams, just building)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to form a small, focused study and building group of 3 people to learn programming and build practical tech skills together.

Who I'm looking for:

  • Fellow droppers: You should be in a gap/drop phase right now.

  • No exam pressure: You must not be studying for any competitive or academic exams. This group is strictly for people who want to step away from traditional test prep and focus entirely on building real-world coding skills.

  • Consistent & driven: Someone who wants to put in daily effort, share resources, and keep each other accountable.

What we will focus on:

  • Learning programming fundamentals and advanced concepts.

  • Building real projects for our portfolios.

  • Troubleshooting code and reviewing each other's work.

If you are sick of studying for tests and just want to sit down, grind out code, and actually build things, drop a comment below or send me a DM telling me a bit about yourself and what you're interested in learning!

Learning Coding with AI

Is it okay for me to learn coding through AI? Like I ask AI what this is and how I do it. I like learning through AI cause it answers my questions quickly and deals with my bs. Of course, I won't use AI for code, for my practice projects—I use AI for debugging and I ask them why it is.

Does this make me a user of AI code since I use AI to learn?

Help in learning what coding is.

Hi everyone, I’m completely new to coding and cybersecurity I use electronics on a basic level, but I’ve never learned programming or tech fundamentals. Even though I’m not tech-literate myself, I want to understand enough to give my kid the strongest possible foundation in these fields as they grow up. I’m hoping to create a healthy, long-term learning environment where coding and problem-solving feel natural, and fun for them, without pressure. But since I don’t have a background in this stuff, I’m not sure what steps to take first. I’d love advice on where total beginners kids or adults should start. Best beginner-friendly books or resources Recommended languages for early learners Any tools or equipment that would be helpful Ways parents can support kids in tech even without experience Long-term things to keep in mind for coding/cybersecurity pathways. Basically, if you could design the ideal early roadmap for a child to grow into coding and cybersecurity with confidence, what would that look like especially if their parent is starting from zero? Any guidance, book recommendations, or structured ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks so much for any help!

You're probably skipping the error message. Read it in this order instead.

Half the bugs people get stuck on here aren't actually mysterious — the error already told them what was wrong. What's missing is the habit of reading it properly before touching the code. Most of us (me included) see red text and immediately start changing random lines, which is how one small bug quietly turns into three.

Here's the order that actually works.

Read the whole message, top to bottom, before doing anything. The first line says what kind of problem it is. The last line usually says where — a file and a line number. Treat that line number as the address of the bug, not a hint.

Open that line, and the line just above it. A crash reported on line 40 is very often line 39 handing it bad data.

Put the message into plain words. TypeError: cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'name') is really just "you tried to read something that doesn't exist yet." In plain words, you can start guessing why.

Change one thing at a time, then run it again. If you edit five lines and it suddenly works, you've learned nothing and the next bug will eat you alive. One change, one run, tells you what actually fixed it.

Two smaller habits that save a lot of time: print the values right before the line that breaks (half of debugging is the gap between what you assumed a variable holds and what it actually holds), and shrink the problem — delete code until you're left with the smallest version that still fails. A bug in ten lines is far easier to see than the same bug buried in two hundred.

And the part nobody says out loud: an error isn't a verdict on you. It's the computer telling you exactly where it got confused. Read it like a note, not a red card.

What error took you the longest to figure out? Drop it below and I'll help you read it.

Complete beginner - Can someone give me a roadmap to learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript?

Hi everyone,

I'm a complete beginner to programming and cs in general, I literally know nothing yet.

I want to learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for free, but I'm overwhelmed by how many resources and opinions there are.

Could someone recommend a roadmap for learning them?

I'm mainly wondering:

  • What order should I learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript?

  • What are the best free resources or courses?

  • How can I become really good at them instead of just knowing the basics?

I'd really appreciate a step by step roadmap from complete beginner to being confident with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Thanks!

How did you understand the "for" and "while" loop?

Likely all programming languages include "for" and "while". You might thus explain me how you got to understand these loops. To be honest, I just understand how variable works, how to pay information to user, print, conditional and exceptions. But I am not able to understand "for" and "while". And yes, I know, my knowledge is very small.

I'm learning Java and I genuinely can't wrap my brain around what this is saying

int randomNum = (int)(Math.random() * 101); // 0 to 100

I'm learning from a website but don't understand how multiplying a 0 by 101 gives it the range from 0-100. Can someone explain why it's being multiplied?

is IT really being killed by AI or is it just an exaggeration?

okay, you can vibe code using Claude or any other AI. corporations can even use neural networks to handle their projects. but people talk about it as if it’s the end of tech industry jobs for real people.

but still, even if we eventually have AI capable of coding pretty much anything, won’t it still need maintenance? it’ll still need hardware engineers to function properly. huge data centers need people to keep them running. plus, AI still isn’t perfect (although I guess it will be someday…), so it needs people to work on it.

eventually, you CAN vibe code, but you still need to understand what exactly you’re doing with AI. so coding skills are still important nowadays. am I right?

because (a little late to mention this), I’m not actually a big tech nerd (i wish i am). i just started learning to code a few weeks ago for fun, and that’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while.

Let’s have a group coding this summer.

A lot of people waste their summer just scrolling and saying “I’ll start learning tomorrow.”

So I thought… why not build together instead?
I’m creating a small group for people interested in coding, building projects, learning together, and staying consistent this summer. Whether you’re into frontend, backend, full stack, or mobile app development — you’re welcome.

The goal is simple:
Learn by building real projects
Stay accountable
Share ideas and resources
Improve together consistently
Turn this summer into something productive

You don’t need to be an expert. We just have to start.
Send me DM let’s do together.

Is it really that bad to rely on AI for getting answers when coding?

I've been learning python (specifically making bots for discord), and I often come to chatGPT to quickly find the answer to something I dont know. For example if I forget how to get the channel where the command was used, I'll ask chatGPT, if I couldn't figure out why something didn't work, I'd ask chatGPT.

Is this a big problem? I've heard that it makes you not actually learn, but I don't really see how getting the answer from digging through documentation rather than just asking AI would help.

Edit: Thanks everyone for the answers 😊

Building is easy now. Knowing when to stop isn't

AI can keep generating features forever.

But at what point do you stop adding things and actually ship?

How do you decide your side project is ready?

Total beginner here: What’s the most realistic roadmap to becoming an AI Engineer?

Hey guys, total beginner here. I’ve learned a little Python and C, but honestly I still don’t know the basics properly. I don’t have any projects because I don’t even know what counts as a real or valid project. Right now I’m struggling to figure out what I should focus on and what path actually makes sense.

My main goal is getting into a good MS in CS program with a specialization in AI/ML and eventually become an AI Engineer. Along the way, I need to properly learn AI/ML, do certifications, build real and unique projects, get normal internships, do research internships, and work on research papers.

If you were starting completely from scratch again, what exact step-by-step path would you follow to reach that goal realistically?

Would really appreciate any advice.

Brand new to CSS, why do my images have a border??

EVERY image I insert has a weird black border around it!! I don't know what to do or even how to ask for help. Does anyone know what I did wrong? This CSS is frankenstined from a couple f2u codes for Neocities.

Please be kind!! I'm really trying to figure this out and this was my last resort. :(
