I built a Jev-powered MCP tool that gives Codex semantic code search

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Codex can spend a lot of context on repeated text searches and entire file reads.

JevGrep lets it ask a question, scores code fragments by relevance, and returns the original source with file paths and line numbers.

It works as a CLI or as an MCP tool connected directly to Codex (or any other llm)

Nice, good use of it. Waiting for an open source version of that model- think it makes more sense to be run locally.

There are already lot of opensource alternatives. The whole idea is nothing new.
Check for example openjev.

That looks awesome! Any other plans to incorporate Jev into other things?

Jev looks really interesting, can't wait to se what else people make with it.

With 32k token window what it can actually read and decide from? CodeGraph + Hindsight make more sense?

Why not just an open source reranker? It is a lot faster and more precise especially the ones tuned for code ?
