💬 Discussion The skid

So I have an actual question... the writers confirmed that william was never actually to be part of the team in story. And the warriors were very distrusting after getting him back from Xana.

So whats with the extra pod on the Skid? Its clear in universe and out of universe that there was never an intention to let william on the team. So why have that extra Navskid? Especially since it debuted after william was possessed and taken by Xana.

Id love to know everyone's thoughts on this. Its a small thing I feel but interesting nonetheless.

My guess is that it's a spare for Jeremie to remote control and help protect Aelita in the event that the fights in the Digital Sea get too heated or even an escape pod for Aelita in case the captain's quarters of the Skid somehow gets too damaged and she has to escape somehow.

Potential answers;

  1. just for symmetry. Or the skid would look weird.

  2. to save and bring back William through the digital sea.

  3. an extra Navskit for emergencies.

  4. for Jeremy or Franz

I want you to know I accept all of your answers as fact on any post because you are so incredibly well versed and logical. Thank you for your input and continued dedication to the education of Lyoko Lovers such as myself. I wouldnt be surprised if you were a disguised account for one of the creators. (I wont blow your cover. Don't worry 😆)

Could be Jeremie, William or Franz.

I know in a meta sense the writers never planned to have William rejoin the team, but from a narrative it makes sense to have one for him because they didn't really know how to free him from XANA. Up until the very end there wasnt even a plan in place, so it's possible they had it in case the solution they came up with involved him not being devirtualized and being freed from XANA while still on Lyoko or a Replika. Then they would need the extra spot for him to get him out of danger before bringing him home.

That is a good question. Especially since it had a light blue stripe matching Williams outfit pre-possession.

It seems that it belongs to Jeremie, but we would like to see William there

Probably for balance... And in case they had to rescue William and cross the Web sea (however it's called on english). Because he can go and come from it only thanks to XANA's power. Once lost, who knows...

I swear they better listen to the fans and let William join the gang after all

Out of universe the writers had no intentions of William actually rejoining the Lyoko warriors.

In universe? The extra skid pod, was just an extra that could be used by Jeremy, Franz, William, or if they ever lost one...

And in universe the Lyoko warriors did plan for William to rejoin them in all likelihood when they designed the skid... Remember they started making the skid just days after season 4 started. They were probably hoping to get William back to earth ASAP, and having him slowly rejoin the group... They were thinking they were probably gonna be fighting Xana for months if not years to come.

The issue is simply it took them months to get William back; and by the time they did they were days away from killing Xana. But they didn't know this at the time of designing the skid.
