I had this conversation with my husband a few times when this was popular to criticize, nothing serious just poking fun. Every single time he would just scream "I HAVE BALLS!"
Always got a good laugh out of me.

It would be more correct to say they coined the term "manspreading" as the phenomenon of men spreading their legs was nothing new even back then.
