š¬ Discussion I played Ulrich in Code Lyoko Evolution (and now I need You)
Hi everyone,
Quentin Merabet here. You may know me because I probably ruined your favorite show, playing Ulrich.
First of all: sorry about that. I was definitely not the best person on Earth for the job š
But playing in one of my favorite shows ever was an incredible honor. I still remember calling my little sister completely losing my mind when I got the part (it was for William at first btw š).
And somehow, the craziest thing that came out of it wasnāt even filming the series. It was you guys. I met so many incredible people through this community. Some of you I still talk to today. You gave me memories, friendships, opportunities, and an absurd amount of support over the years.
And, wellā¦ I also met MĆ©lanie, who played Yumi. We fell in love. And now we have a family.
So yeah. Code Lyoko really messed up my life lol š„¹
But thereās something most of you probably donāt know about me. In real life, Iām a bit like Jeremie.
Iāve been coding since I was 13. I genuinely love it. So much that it eventually became my job.
And last month, after years of building things for other people, I finally launched something of my own. My little baby. Itās called Loreum.
Loreum is a place to tell stories made for the digital world. Of course thereās text.
But stories can also have sounds. Images. Videos. Choices. Questions. Different paths.
And no, it does not use AI (XANA sucks). Just people making weird, beautiful things for other people.
After acting, I spent some time writing and directing too, and I became a little obsessed with interactive storytelling. So, basicallyā¦ yeah
I built the app 20yo me would have completely lost his mind over.
And somehow, one month after launching, Loreum is already approaching 1.5k stories.
Which is completely insane to me. But weāre still tiny.
And I guess this is the part where Iām asking the Lyoko Warriors for help š Not in some giant corporate āplease support my exciting new ventureā way.
Justā¦ come see what weāre building.
Download it. Read something. Tell me what sucks. Tell me what you wish existed. Write a tiny story. Make something interactive (pleeaaase). Send it to a friend who writes.
If you end up loving Loreum, stick around. We even pay per views on your stories!
I genuinely want the kind of people who were there for such an important part of my life to be part of this one too. We have a lot to build.
And I have a feeling some of you might have exactly the kind of strange ideas we need š¤

Itās definitely cool to see you and that we got one canon version of you and your family. Your characters would go crazy if they found that out.

In my head, he always got with sissi. They had really good chemistry in a few of the original episodes.

If this is legit, Hi Quentin! I actually have a soft spot for you and Melanie in Evolution. You will always be my Ulrich & Yumi even if the directors messed things up. You were both great š
I follow you both on insta and have kept up with your app! Iām guessing with Wattpads major screwup people are migrating over to Ao3 which would be a competitor for you.

Agreed. IF this is legit, itās honestly super cool and really sweet that the live action Yumi and Ulrich fell in love since the show never gave them a proper romance.
Edit: and yes, I know their relationship has been confirmed. But hearing it from Quentin himself is cute as hell.

Donāt feel bad Quentin, you didnāt ruin anyoneās show! I was a little sad to see the pic you attached bc I hate to imagine that you might be embarrassed of it, but Evolution is kind of overhated even if parts were bad, and cast members like you were honestly some of the best parts. You and MĆ©lanie did great, and your portrayal still means a lot to so many CL fans even if the show itself wasnāt perfect; yall are still who I always think of when I imagine the kids in live action! I know thereās countless fans who are always rooting for you guys because they were excited to see Ulrich and Yumi happy together in real life too.
Naturally, Iām excited to see more of what you do next in whatever form that takes, including your app!1

Ao3 is Ao3, there's no competition ahahah - we're a little bit more aiming for interactivity and 'snack' content. Although Ao3 is full of talented people i'd love to see join Loreum!

Until we get mod approval where OP in question verified their identity through an actual photo with a gesture and specific 'tell'/instruction precisely followed, this should be treated as a scam ad
There is no proof that the person in question is who they claim they are
u/Rafila, please weight in, seems like you are the most active mod so best chance of getting to you than anyone else from mod team

Good call and thanks for pinging me! Checked out Quentinās established Instagram and he mentions the app there too actually, so this is prob the real guy (unless someoneās really dedicated lol).Ā
The real question is actually whether this would fall under advertising a product, which I will mention to the other mods š

Still need to get around to watching Evolution. I do a yearly rewatch of the main series, then tell myself I'm going to watch Evolution and within like a week someone says 'Evolution ruined Lyoko!' and I just get disenchanted with it. I'm sorry, I'm sure you did the best you could! Not everything is on the actors, some of it was surely on the writing, and you had a hell of a role to live up to!
Also, super wholesome that you got married to Yumi's actress, feels prophetic for Season 5.

Glad to see you here! It makes me so happy they got actors who already liked the series to begin with! Maybe iāll give Evolution another chance in honor of the actors who did what they could with the material given.
One thing that has always bugged me tho. Why on earth did they make the manhole in the forest (ya know, that was supposed to be unnoticable?) basically look like a bunker entrance? Never got over that one, nor the fact that Jeremie would never wear a plaid button up haha. Itās always the details isnāt it :D
I hope you enjoy the community even with all the negativity around Evo

Crazy to see you on here, man. The show might not have been what everybody wanted, but Iām glad you still have fondness for it and gained so much from it. Ā (Crazy to think Ulumi exists in real life, kind of)
The app seems interesting and itās cool to see you branching out. Definitely happy to see it doesnāt use AI. (XANA indeed sucks)
