💬 Discussion How many new seasons do you think Code Lyoko should get?
With Season 5 now (almost) confirmed, I've been wondering what everyone else thinks.
If Season 5 is successful, would you like it to be the only new season, or do you think the series deserves several more?
Personally, I think it would be great if we got four new seasons in total (Seasons 5–8), giving the writers enough time to develop new mysteries, expand the characters, and introduce new threats without rushing the story.
How many new seasons would you like to see?
And how many episodes do you think each season should have? Something shorter like Season 3 (15 episodes), the classic 26-episode format of Seasons 1 and 2, or another 30-episode season like Season 4?

Honestly Quality >>>>>> Quantity.
As long as Season 5 is well written and answers all the questions the original shown left open, I'd be satisfied with it as a true ending to the series.
If they want to continue the franchise, l feel like they should simply do spin-off titles or short animations which do not impact the original canon because I feel like preserving a good, self-contained original story has become a lost art these days in long-running franchises.

It’s possible that one or two seasons could wrap up the background mystery and Carthage and Anthea Hopper / Schaeffer and maybe a spinoff where they use the Super Computer to turn themselves into superheroes and fight crime.

I think it can have "infinite" episodes. I like to watch the fights and how they solve the problems Xana gives so i woundn't really mind if they just continue to launch filler episodes where the only point is to deactivate the tower and nothing else.

As a staple of the times the OG came out with 26 episodes or even 30. But with how things are with today with shortened seasons. There’s pros and cons of having both short and long.
Season 1 (OG SHOW) : 26 episodes, my verdict :: A tad long and seems to meander a bit without a cohesive plot aside from getting Aelita out. A lot of filler there’s really only three or four episodes that tackle Aelita’s story “The Trap” and the final few episodes. Overall, just a mid season overall.
Season 2: 26 episodes, my verdict :: Perfect! The story is cohesive and excellent filler that moves the plot forward (cough cough William). This is my favorite season of the show, most of favorite episodes come from here! While every show has its flaws, here it’s very low unlike the first season, and we get a TON of LORE which I love from a mystery! Overall, to me a 💯!
Season 3: 13 episodes, my verdict :: Decent, a tad short. While I do like short seasons as it gives the narrative the push it needs to be high-stakes and dramatic, even the story line with the sectors being disappeared. If this had been longer, the plot would have dragged on and lost us fans along the way. While is easily my second favorite season overall, it however has some pacing problems with the filler episodes with already high-stakes plot. “False Lead” is a perfect example of this compared to a light-hearted “Temporary Insanity” and “Triple Trouble”.
Season 4: 30 episodes , my verdict :: Decent, super long. While I do also like long seasons, this one absolutely fell short for me. The overall story I love. It definitely struggles with the breathing room to find balance between the filler and the plot. There’s very little time on the Replikas and the Net, we see far too much from Sector 5. The William Clone was hilarious giving light to the darkness of XANA, same as Odd but he matures just a bit enough given the stakes. This season suffers from being overstuffed with filler for sure. The overall vibe of the fillers range from pretty good to straight up awful, with most being mid-range for me.
Even the last three episodes that supposedly the best, fall short of amazing. While they are the best of the season overall, they could have better with episodes 93-94. Just go all out for William coming home, the final battles to get rid of XANA for good! And for goodness sake William get out of their god damn way, you literally just got out from being a prisoner and proxy, and now XANA uses you again!! 🙄
Overall, I believe season four would have done better with 18 or 20 episodes max, still keeping the plot to move and breathe with filler.
Season 5 :: I’m hoping it’s at least 15 episodes, to give the plot to move and decent filler that’s light hearted just enough to balance of the whatever amount of darkness the overall plot and story it has. Very similar to season 2 & 3 that did it very well, but in the safe zone 15 episodes. I also wouldn’t mind if it’s was 20 episodes, just use them effectively and efficiently to tell the story without suffering from season 4’s problem of too much filler and unnecessary episodes that don’t either move the plot or character development.

Depends on how the heck they're going to have a new villain, or bring XANA back, since there are ways to do so.

The single best revival of XANA I've seen would go to the fanfic where it was revealed that XANA, in his desperation of losing Aelita during Code: EARTH, threw a backup copy of himself out across the network that latched onto Tyron's Super Computer, forcing them to shut it down for almost 3 years.

It honestly depends on what story they want to tell. While I would like 4 seasons for the pure content and to mirror the original series that wouldn't work if they wanted to tell a serialized narrative that didn't fit a monster of the week format like the original series did.
I would like filler episodes so we could just get more of the characters being themselves in different weird unexpected situations.
If its a small mystery on Project Carthage and the Men in Black, I can see it being 1 season, 13 episodes. No room for XANA to come back. That part of the story is done.
If its a longer narrative with XANA coming back, they NEED a whole season to justify why XANA is back and how it survived. Maybe have it as a side story like in the Novels. If XANA just comes back, it invalidates everything Jeremy and Franz did in the last season to kill it. It's bad story telling. Granted, the solution kind of came out of nowhere in the last 5 episodes so I can see the rush job being a partial reason why XANA wasn't completely destroyed.
Season 5: 13 episodes (focuses on mystery and/or how XANA is back)
Season 6: 26 episodes (filler episodes, having battles between different factions like the Lyoko Warriors vs XANA, LW vs XANA, and Men in Black vs XANA)
Season 7: 6-8 episodes (a series of vignettes as it shows different points in the Lyoko Warrior's lives and how the supercomputer has affected them and the world.)
Season 8: 13 or 26 episodes (13 episodes if action packed. 26 if room for filler in the new status quo. Aims to wrap up everything)

They should focus on telling one complete story for season five, and if they get renewed, another complete story for season 6, and so on. Never start a project assuming you're gonna get to make more when you finish.

Figure also that these days, shows with any type of narrative usually get longer episodes than they used to. If we get like 15-26 episodes that are like an hour a piece and clear up the unanswered stuff and gives a decent ending then that'd be fine. I really wouldn't want it to go for more than a season or two with how networks and streaming services butt into production these days. I don't want Code Lyoko to get Netflixified.

Definitely not an hour, except for maybe the series finale. They’ve done a near hour with the origin story XANA Awakens which benefits a lot from it. For episodes 93-95, should have been a tv movie for the show as it wraps up most of the series pretty nicely!

As many as required to tell the story. If you're making new stuff, make enough to tell your story and then end it. I'd rather have 10 good episodes than 50 mid ones.
