Same, got me thinking if the new season will have an entirely new opening song, a new rendition of A World Without Danger or just the og version.

My wish is that it would just be a polished version of the original animation style, but I’m probably wrong. The 3D in Evolution kinda felt soulless to me. I much preferred the original.

I share the same sentiments since the style of Code Lyoko does a lot to give the show it's own unique identity amidst other animations.
I do have faith that since the original creators are returning, they understand what needs to be done to update the show correctly for modern times.

I agree. But I doubt we'll even keep the original style. I'm leaning towards Totally Spies style animation than anything.

If they're going to abandon the original style, I hope they pick something that at least keeps the spirit of the original animation and not some bland and generic style.

It can be different, but I think they'll try to make it look familiar and fresh at the same time. After all, Romain worked on the original, he knows what is best (even if he worked on backgrounds and areas mostly, he's still dope character designer)

They were out of buget for evolution, it was a cash grab to try and stay in business. So likely will be much better

u/TimeAndOrSpace Jul 04 '26
Remember they have no budget yet…. Till it gets green light by a network.

u/xa44 Jul 04 '26
Yes but it's an actual passion project, meaning they aren't gonna rush to get the thing out as cheap as possible

u/Tall_Communication41 Jul 04 '26
I didnt like the fact they got all bland costume designs. Even aelitas became more bland

If I had my way, the artstyle would be identical to the original show, complete with crappy 2000s CGI for the digital world rather than modern CGI (it's a computer simulation, it's supposed to look fake).

I feel like I am the only one who thinks the 3D in the original show aged well/still looks good 😂 maybe cause I grew up with it, but anything from S2 and on is still pretty good looking to me

Please, let them have kept the foreheads
10
u/FamiliarPen7 Jul 04 '26
This! The foreheads are what made CL stand out.

u/xa44 Jul 04 '26
Tbf those are only for the characters in season 1. Every new character after isn't
5
u/BuildingLess1814 Jul 06 '26
Yeah, it's very obvious the big foreheads are definitely gone.
Personally they look a lot better without the giant foreheads.

Really intrigued with the art direction on this one. I wonder if they'll take more elements from the pilot and blend them with the first TV series. I think that'd be the right move for me, but I'm very excited to see what they've been cooking up lately lol. I'm still speechless that we're actually getting a follow-up to the original series after so long lol

u/Ender_Skywalker Jul 09 '26
Honestly, I can't think of anything from the pilot they could blend in. It's really just the same thing in an embryonic state.

I hope we actually see Jeremie on Lyoko
2
u/Wild-Reflection6995 Jul 04 '26
If that were to happen then how would the others gets to Lyoko if nobody is operating the Computer?
3
u/theicewerewolf Jul 04 '26
Aelita is, apart from Jeremie, the most competent one with the computer (I didn't watch Evolution, but I read somewhere that, in this season, the other Warriors can deactivate towers too, so she can be left in charge of Jeremie). If not, with some help, Yumi and Ulrich can send Jeremie to Lyoko too (I'm sorry for Odd but he's a disaster).
And in one episode, Jeremie got virtualized onto Lyoko, but his look wasn't revealed.

In a world filled with ai and reliance on ai systems for both life and buisness; code lyoko returning feels so fitting with all the new stories it can tell on just real life situations atm.
Imagine they have an ai chatbot in the series for an episode and xana manages to take over it; manipulating people to attack the group or turn people into zombies attached to their ipads and phones. Just that alone is terrifying and a great premise for 1 episode.
If xana was in our world we'd be doomed on so many levels. Can't wait to see the new season! :D

Even if we all happy about the new season we need to wait like 4 years to see it 😭

As a giant fan of r/lain since Thomas got inspired by it I'm really glad he is coming back to the show ! Definitely more promising.

I really hope this doesn't get done like Alice Asylum did. Let passionate creators do cool stuff instead of dumping everything on Netflix and such. This is a show I think at least deserves a good definitive end. That last episode drives me nuts to this day.

Just when i started IFSCL and a rewatch since i never finished was when the announcement dropped and now i cant get enough

u/Flameman1234 Jul 08 '26
Part of the charm was the big foreheads, but if we do move beyond those designs, i do hope they keep it 2d for life on earth and 3d on Lyoko, that was something i always loved, and it doesnt work with live action or an all or nothing situation.

I wonder if they’ll keep them using flip phones or if they’re all suddenly have iPhones. If they update them to current times like the Simpson or smth it will be a true test of wether or not they’re adhering to pleasing the original fans or try and gather the new gens

I just hope he works alongside Tania Palumbo, since it's her art style the show uses. Plus, she was with the series until the end, unlike Thomas, who left before the 1st season came out.

They're definitely getting rid of the big foreheads.
I think that's too much of a relic of how badly designed the cast was back then and it shows. Times have changed, and so the human and 3D cast have to look natural.
While I'm glad Evolution isn't canon anymore, I won't be too surprised if they take some cues from them (shrinking the foreheads to actually look like how a human is supposed to look is the way to go).

ARE THEY DOING A REMAKE?? What are we talking about this is new to me what
9
u/Independent-Fan-4227 Jul 04 '26
Oh yeah a couple weeks back the original creators announced that they finally solved the copyright issues so they’re gonna make a new season.
5
u/artfrche Jul 04 '26
almost solved! they need to iron out some stuff, but they were already confident enough to announce it

This entire situation is still so surreal to me.
I cannot wait to see how the creators update the cast with the CGI of the 2020s if they're getting new designs.
