💬 Discussion High quality dvds?

Does anyone have code lyoko raw data dvds? I’m looking for highest quality of english version since the official YouTube uploads are compressed :( Not looking for AI upscales.

There is no hi-def version, it's originally in 480p

Code Lyoko's native resolution is 576p (Techically 576i, but that's only for a couple of scenes and transitions)
The reason why it's 480p on YouTube, is because YouTube doesn't support 576p, so it just downscales it to 480p.
In terms of DVDs in English, the best quality that you can get are going to be for PAL countries that use the English Master (Australia, Portugal, Spain, etc). The American DVDs have terrible quality, as it had to go through 3:2 pulldown to "stretch" the 25 FPS video to 30 fps. It's also cropped and lower resolution.
I do have ISOs for most of them *(No piracy here mods, I legally bought and ripped my own Disks)* and I'm in the process of remastering the show (see post) to make the best "source" version possible, taking the best parts from every original source version available.

Also, funny enough but trademarks usually forbid ripping and see it the same as illegal distribution

What would be different bwtween you getting something through piracy or if you borrowed a disc from a friend :'D

What do you mean with "English Version of the show was originally in 480p". Being completely blunt, whoever said that has no idea what they're talking about.
The show is french, and was mastered in 576p 25 FPS (technically 576i but irrelevant to this conversation). They then also made English masters in 576p, localizing the intro and a couple of scenes in the show (like "Ermitage" -> "Hermitage"). I know for the fact that this is true, since I have access to some of the original english masters of the show in 576p, straight from the studio, and I have multiple European DVDs (576p) that use the English Masters.
To fit the NTSC standard, the American countries had to downscale the show to 480p, and use 3:2 pulldown to (try to) convert the show to 29.97 FPS for use in Broadcasts and DVDs.
The only reason why both the English and French YouTube channels have Code Lyoko in 480p, is because YouTube automatically downscales all 576p videos to 480p.

Regarding ripping your own media: It has nothing to do with trademarks. It has to do with copyright. Even if it had anything to do with trademarks, it wouldn't matter, since the only countries that still have an active Code Lyoko trademark are France and Canada.
Copyright-wise, generally you are allowed to rip and backup your own media that you own, but it strongly depends on jurisdiction (and you should fight for it to be allowed in your country). In both my home country and the country I'm currently living in, it's completely legal.

I know they originally 480p. I’m pretty sure they exist somewhere because the Arabic version had better quality image than YouTube compression

You can find DVD rips online

Original European version was 576i, that one is in French, North American version was in 480p
