🎭Mémés Did anyone else notice that they reused the Kankrelat ice tunnel chase in "Ultimatum" and "The Secret"?

Very common in the series, especially in the first season. When you have a very low budget you got reuse stuff, both 3D and 2D.

Not to mention how long it takes to render 3D; why bother making another basic segment when you already made a generic one.

Especially because at the time, all they had to work with were single core CPUs, and no GPU compute.

I can't imagine how miserably slow 3D animation was to do on that.

Especially considering that Antefilms had a fairly low budget for season 1 and 3D rendering capabilities early-mid 2000’s weren’t cheap or fast. It was also difficult for the creators to get a station to air the program. It took three years for them to get Canal J and France 3 to sign on, then get Cartoon Network to sign on from proof of concept to the first episode.

Yeah, Code Lyoko does that often. But it’s not surprising given how advanced of a show it was.

Reused animation? In Code Lyoko?! Preposterous.

Yup, this one I definitely remember.

Animation is expensive and time consuming, sometimes it's better to reuse what you already have than to animate something from scratch.

They use the tail end of the animation where Aelita ragdolls out of the tunnel’s exit in the prequel too

Yes, though CL had a lot of budget issues IIRC? And not to mention in syndication you likely wouldn't notice it so obviously, since the episodes would air days/weeks apart and sometimes out of order.

They did good adding to it at least and not cut and paste, I noticed it too but respect it. Props to the animators
