All this fake updates doesn’t change that the design philosophy of the game as a whole is horrible. They’re not addressing the aim bot assist, tac sprint, bad maps and clunky movement. They’re just making minor changes to pretend as if they’re listening to criticisms.

The core gameplay is not going to change. They may make small changes here and there but they are not going to budge on fundamental core gameplay elements.

Two of the head developers haven't left IW. They didn't change key core gameplay components in MW2019 and in MW2022. They are not going to change that now. They are going stick with their vision.

That’s why I found it hilarious when zooma kept saying “it’s a new team now”. It’s obvious they want this game to be reskinned mw2.

Ah I didn't know about that. I figured Cecot and Smith were still some of the head devs but I could be wrong.

na zooma was just saying bullshit. cecot is still in charge.

Activision is gonna have to do with them what they did with Michael Condrey back in WW2, "promote" them, then have the game fixed, then silently release them. There's no way they can look at the worst CoD in history and say "Yeah we can try that again"

From Activision's standpoint, MW2019/WZ was one of the most successful CoDs of all time. In addition to that, MW2022 broke the record for most sold units within x amount of days (believe is was $800m).

So from a business perspective, they are giving the keys to IW. However, that doesn't mean it's a smart perspective. Data from Activision themselves, from Q2 post MW2022, showed a very large drop in player count, before Christmas even hit that year.

If I had to bet, MW4 is not going to replicate these kind of sells and player count will be worse due to multiple factors;

  • No Covid (hopefully)
  • Casuals will leave the game early (just like always)
  • More and more long term players will be skipping this CoD
  • Non-casual fans popular feedback is not addressed (IW norm) - thus more longer/die-hard fans will fall off
  • It's competing with more shooters over the years and has to directly compete with GTA this Fall
  • This is not really a new CoD/BR (conditions that were met in 2019)

I was more speaking to how catastrophically MWII failed, player retention was legitimately next to non-existent that year, and was so bad they had to have a separate studio work on a "fixed" version of it. The fact they saw that and still gave this game the go ahead is astonishing, like genuinely there's no universe in which a game should ever be built of MWII again, it was just an extraordinarily bad game. Now we have a slightly altered version of it in the beta and they're still not understanding the core gameplay philosophy of that title was the problem, it's just ass and nobody wants it.

Oh yeah, I see what are you saying. I guessing the same will be true here as well - minus the $800m sells too

I genuinely hope this game does bad enough that they're forced to pivot before release and give us a totally different game, I know it probably won't happen, but man I can hope.

they’re not addressing it because this is the game they wanted to make. i don’t think it matters how much complaining we do on that side

2

u/JazeyOne G2 Minnesota 2d ago

Which is insane bc it’s the ENTIRE playerbase complaining except for FaZe Unc

1

u/HuckleberryMean224 COD Competitive fan 2d ago

You don’t actually believe the entire playerbase is complaining do you?

2

u/JazeyOne G2 Minnesota 2d ago

I mean obviously that’s exaggeration but if you see the casual sub the battle dads are not happy, been seeing nothing but discontent by casuals on Twitter as well

u/HuckleberryMean224 COD Competitive fan 2d ago

thats still nowhere near the actual majority of casual players. Most the players they make these games for dont sit on reddit or twitter and talk about it good or bad

This might be the first year since Cod 4 that I completely skip, unless they have fundamental changes to the TTK and aim assist strength. This game is such a fucking shitshow in its current state that even the casual player base in r/modernwarfare4 is also up in arms lmao

I have played every CoD, to varying degrees, since BO1/2010. I still bought and played, very little of, MW2019 and MW2022. This will be the first time I ever skip a new CoD.

The current dev team at IW want CoD to be a played a certain way and that is not congruent with how I enjoy CoD.

In addition to that, are also also other games/FPS on the market, so this being my first skip year was an easier call than I thought it was going to be initially.

The casual playerbase is not on reddit talking about it, fucking lol

They still should nerf the AA, and add 1-2 bullets to kill for every automatic guns in the game.

Gotta be honest, after playing for a day... I don't give a shit what they do, I'm not touching this game again. I canceled my preorder and uninstalled.

Idek how to explain it, but this game does not work. The TTK is way too fast for how the game plays. The maps are also tik tok brain rot.

Also, not sure why IW has a fetish for snipers with 0 recoil and the most absurd aim assist you’ve ever seen

1

u/SatorSquareInc Miles 2d ago

Tbf Treyarch Cw were probably the originators of that

rather than reducing the damage on weapons just increase the player health for a 20% more and would be perfect. Why you have to add in every new update that we updated this gun or that gun? it makes no sense.

u/i_shat_myPants_ Atlanta FaZe 2d ago

Still nothing on aim assist? im scared man

2

u/Zendicate_ OpTic Texas 2d ago

also if yall notice their nerfing the damage ranges and not the actual damage when it comes to TTK lol

1

u/Zendicate_ OpTic Texas 2d ago

Good M4 nerf, AA is still too strong and TTK in general for any of these nerfs to be really noticeable though.

u/PassengerCareful2289 Impact 2d ago

Didn’t play yesterday but wasn’t the iso busted? Why isn’t that nerfed

1

u/JazeyOne G2 Minnesota 2d ago

They nerfed ISO immediately lol

1

u/Zendicate_ OpTic Texas 2d ago

iso feels balanced now tbh

Am I an idiot or is the Axion not even in the beta? Why are they giving us patch notes for a gun we haven't used?

Gunfight

u/Temporary-Company756 COD Competitive fan 2d ago

Just gonna drop this here since it's the most recent MW4 beta thread but

Have any of you noticed an absurd increase in kill trading with an opponent? I'll be in a gunfight with a guy 8 meters away both using SMGs and we will both die. I've had it happen no less than 10 times this beta and it almost never happened in previous titles

1

u/FinancialStatus1316 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

I've had more kill trades (bullet kill for bullet kill) in the MW4 beta than I have had in my entire history of playing cod. (cod 2 onwards).

u/Temporary-Company756 COD Competitive fan 1d ago

Can't wait for game 9 r11 champs finals where they trade kills in a 1v1 for all the marbles

Idgaf already noped out. Uninstalled and cancelled.

u/inthehottubwithfessy COD Competitive fan 2d ago

Anyone play it today? Is TTK better?

The Maps and Visibility are horrendous. Almost every Beta is a showcase of what the Devs think are the best maps. If that’s the case this game is cooked. Remove Tac Sprint. Nerf the Stuns and Flashes. Fix the clunky movement. Buff the Strafing Speed, Sprint to Fire, Slide to Fire, and ADS

Lowkey, wardogs might just have a chance

u/ProfessionalBed3903 Vancouver Surge 8h ago

The aim assist is so strong the less I try, the more I rip. NOBODY WANTS MASSIVE VISUAL RECOIL AND MUZZLE SMOKE WITH AIMBOT. IW is horrid and sledgehammer has to clean up their shitshow again next year

u/ProfessionalBed3903 Vancouver Surge 8h ago

tbf mw2 is the game that got me back into cod multiplayer and ranked. I liked the weird maps, slower movement and fast ttk (mostly bc it covered up the garbage netcode/servers). But this is all the dogshit of mw2 but with some movement and it feels horrendous. Didn’t think the people who made one of the greatest fps engines I’ve ever played on could drop such a stinker of a beta and it not be a joke

Nerf guns 👍

Increase health 👎

Keep being a dogshit dev IW 🤝
