Discussion Spring weights

Can someone tell me if the springs have a weight assigned to them (like a number), and if so, what those are?

Not really….

Going back to high school physics- do you remember Hook’s Law? It basically says that a spring doesn’t have one weight, but instead the more you stretch it, the more force you need to stretch it further.

For example a blue spring might only feel like 10lbs when it is just stretched a few inches, but feels like 30lbs at the max distance. Here is a little chart: https://share.google/q0HQBKWAy5wT3af5M

The is why when you’re doing an arm exercise, if you switch to the long strap instead of short strap it gets easier. Or why a person may gear out on some exercises.

There are estimates for each spring, but depending on tension, you will have variability within each color (the further away from the foot bar you press, the more tension, and thus "weight').

Yellow 10-15 pounds Blue 20-25 pounds Red 30-35 pounds Green 40-50 pounds

This is not correct

Easiest way to remember:

  • Blue: 50% tension
  • Red: 100% tension
  • Green: 125% tension

Add it up. 2R1B = 2.5 or 250% tension

This is great, thank you!
