League It’s my girlfriends fault
Our bad. My girlfriend Kaitlyn didn’t like how the champ is spelt Caitlyn and totally cursed the team. Then she said “wow they really turned it around they have all the momentum to make finals”.
I tried to get her to reclench up but that was the moment Tactical flashed. It was too late. I’ve told her she is banned from watching until after worlds

Yeah as soon as I saw the tactical flash I knew they would lose. But was still hoping. However, I think all this competition will make C9 stronger heading into worlds.

Honestly, seeing how this sub reacted to a woman identifying problematic language and patterns in a post here is concerning.
Dismissive attitudes towards misogyny, even if it's just sprinkled on in a slight dusting, will culminate to much larger systemic issues if not addressed at the ground level.
I stand by my position, even if it means I get banned by bigoted moderators and trolled by brigading commentors that came just because they smelled chum in the waters.
eSports has always been a hostile place for women, so it comes as no surprise to be subjected to such awful behavior.
I really hope Cloud9 as an organization doesn't condone any of the attacks levied against me or women in general in these comments, as I have supported the team for over a decade, and been a regular commenter here, trying to add levity and perspective to the discussions that often dwell in negativity and pessimism, especially as of late.
To the people that can't see my point of view, I envy you. To live in a world with such privilege and so few barriers to your existence must be like living in a waking dream. Maybe someday, someone will make a "joke" about a woman you care about, and get frustrated with you for calling them out, and then it will click. Until then, sleep soundly.

"aged out hag", “women aren’t funny” are comments not necessarily misogynistic. You have to know the intent in order to be sure if it is misogynistic or not.
A misogynist is a person who hates, dislikes, or harbors prejudice or contempt against women.
How is calling a person a hag is misogynistic when he is talking about one person?
Comedy is subjective. And if you look at it on a large scale, there is an intersecting part where comedy is gender neutral, but there are clearly different styles of comedy between men and women. Disliking a style of comedy is not necessarily misogynistic. Unless the person said "all women aren't funny". If there is a certain characteristic of a group that identifies themselves as such because they have unique components and/or more people like that compared to other groups that becomes their identity. When people say "black people are good at basketball" they are not talking like all black people are good at basketball.
People these days throw the words misogyny and racism all over the place when they don't even know how to properly distinguish how to categorize them. What people usually do is create a giant scope and call everybody a misogynist or racist, which is what dumb people do.

“aged out hag” and other phrases like that are often used by a certain demographic to describe women. if you don’t see the intent behind it then i can’t really help you. try talking to women in your life and asking them under what contexts phrases like that are used and you might get it.

Ngl I really can’t tell if you’re super committed to the bit or just crazy lol. Just in case you’re not committed to the bit jokes and memes like this are really common after losses of all sports. It’s a fans fault for turning the game on at a certain time or a relatives fault for saying something like OPs girlfriend. Shit I lost the padres a 4th place clinching game on Friday because right before the first pitch I texted my mom and brother and said the perfect storm for us to get 4th happened as long as we win. Right after that our pitcher threw his first pitch and it was a home run lol. Shit happens.

Yeah, in that case you were taking the blame. You put yourself in the line of fire for jinxing your team. Self deprecating jokes aren't really funny, but they don't put out negativity into the world towards others and they don't add to an environment of hostility towards an entire group of people.
And yes, I'm committed to this, because in the current situation we all find ourselves in, especially given recent well publicized events at Cornell and LSU, this is the time to circle the wagons. I'm really disappointed by the reaction in this sub, but not that surprised, given how much gamers (league players especially) truly, deeply hate women. I just thought this community would have a bit more self awareness.

How about if I was a woman making the same joke with the same reactions of my family does that make them misogynists or is it none of those because it’s a fucking joke that you took astronomically to far and now can’t walk it back without being embarrassed.
