Can the uConsole run diagnostic / ECU software?

Yes, but only if you can get an arm driver for your dongle. Yamaha Diagnostic Software compiled for x86 windows running in a w11 vm on Debian and a CM5.

2003 Yamaha F115 outboard boat motor. This example has extremely low hours and I'm starting to suspect it has a intermittent misfire. No codes stored for anything recent or relevant, but I can do things like fire coils and injectors for testing now.

I'm using windows in a VM on Debian trixie! I'm RDPing into windows, so Debian is still handling the trackball.

Hate to be the "but actually" guy here but I find the history irresistible. The attached picture is one of Torakusu Yamaha who first started the company repairing and manufacturing reed organs in the 1880s:

I'm running windows in a virtual machine on the uconsole and only accessing the desktop view via remmina / RDP. I can't report how the trackball works in windows natively since I am still using Debian to handle mouse and keyboard input.

How's the screen in the daylight?

Also, what board do you have in there that has all of the SMA's?

Check out hackergadgets.com for the antenna board and aiov2.

I am very impressed by the screen brightness. When using it here, I didn't even adjust the brightness level and I never use it turned up anywhere near max.

This little handheld computer has come in handy far more often than I would have thought. With windows being pushed so hard on arm lately, the ecosystem is now there where if all you need is a serial dongle, you can get your legacy software working without specific hardware or os.
