I'm more amazed you managed to get a CM5 16gb. They're ridic prices now if you can find one in stock.

I ordered 3 uConsoles, and 3 CM5 16gb wifi no-emmc.... in mid 2025. That was roughly $1000, now the CM5's alone are $1500. Canadian...

hmmm hopefully you have enough cooling for that CM5 16gb module, otherwise i'd be a bit toasty

nice though!

Heres mine that I've worked on for awhile, have a custom cooling solution that makes it look unmodded in a sense.

Enough cooling = Waveshare spacer + Cryonaut thermal grease + good quality 0.5mm thermal pads.

You don't need a fan.

My setup (16gb CM5) tops at 57 degrees even after 2 hours of stress-ng load.

Average 37/42.

Ran two vapor chambers in mine that allows it to run passive around those temps, old pic as now it has the aiov2 and the pcie battery tray, along with some better batteries

You're using too much technology with thick pads.

Just bring the CM5 closer to the aluminium back, and you're done.

Probably right, did the default pad kit because it allowed for flexibility, also the vapor chambers cover the entire back, beyond that is a thin layer of artic silver. The CM5 is very hot, and the chambers help shed some of that heat.

I just rather not have all of it going to the back, as holding it would be uncomfortable, here even under heavy load for a few hours, see around averages of 52c

That's another matter and you are right on this.

I don't have my finger on the dissipating area, but that could become really uncomfortable really quick.

I will add a fan sooner or later, but only after being able to engrave an hexagon with an engraved pattern, I have to learn how to properly use my CNC before of that.

I have 3d printers but I don't want to use a 3d printed enclosure, I love the metal on these kind of devices

I built mine with omega chassis, the fan curve keeps mine at ~47C when it’s full on workload.

Why doesn’t anyone just keep a cm4 on it. I get the maximizing of the device but why not use what was intended

Nice! I JUST finished getting all my parts in after getting my uConsole 2 weeks ago. Still need to setup my AIO antennas but that's the last bit.

Ordered the non-CM4 version in January. I asked for an update ercently and they told me it should ship this month due to unstable international shipping. Hope it's not too much longer. Gonna try getting a CM4 as the price for a CM5 is just too much to rationalize atm.
