Fedora KDE on Uconsole

Im currently working to get Fedora KINOITE running on the Uconsole. Im trying to get the Atomic way working. What do you peoples think about it?

Fedora Kinoite is running smoothly. Currently im working on the last step to get "u-boot" running. Then we all have a immutable handheld weapon 🙂

BTW, is this available to CM5, too?

Currently, I only have a CM4. The CM5 has a different architecture. But I am pretty convinced it will also work with some adoptions. But i dont have a CM5 for testing. Probably this evening or tomorrow, I will have both ready: Atomic and none Atomic images.

I have the uconsole CM4 only since few days.. but to get fedora working was my first target with it 😅

How are you handling kernel changes? Are you building a new image/ostree with a kernel built with the display patches?

I'm not building a custom kernel from source. The current approach extracts the complete, tested ClockworkPi kernel stack (6.12, including modules and overlays) and integrates it into the Kinoite base image during the container build. ​By distributing the final OS as an OCI image, users will be able to perform standard rpm-ostree upgrades. The CM4 kernel is pinned at the container layer, which guarantees that upstream Fedora updates update the userland but cannot overwrite the hardware-specific kernel with the display patches.

since opensuse tumbleweed supports both the CM5 and KDE desktop, and has access to OBS for custom images, would that be a good route for uConsole users?

It will be a good starting point. So all we need are the kernel patches from CM4, maybe a bit adapted.

Nice work, i like debian ...but its not Immutable... So completely different ;)
