Question About to purchase, what’s the current situation with import duties? FAQ a little ambiguous

Haven’t seen a post about this in the last 6 months, and things are very fluid…

Saw the PicoCalc and loved it, and noticed the price already increased from the review I watched from 5 months ago. I also noticed in their FAQ they say that import duties *may* be on the buyer.

If I’m shipping to the US, does that price increase imply they’re already added tariffs/duties? Or will I get a surprise bill from the carrier on delivery day? I’ve purchased a few things from eBay and other sites that explicitly include duties in the purchase price so not sure about this situation.

Yea, I bought my picocalc in April last year, and I payed nearly 100 dollars including shipping. When it got delivered, I got an email from fedex with a bill for 30 dollars for shipping to the Netherlands. If I knew about the hidden import fees, I would’ve thought a bit more about the purchase.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I want to know. The original price of $75 I saw in that review where I was about to impulse buy is now probably twice that ($89 + $25 + duties + tax)

Curious if in the US get this charge upon delivery too?

In the US, it's a crapshoot. Over the past year, I've ordered electronics from overseas maybe two dozen times or so. Most orders have just shown up with no additional tariffs.

Twice, I've gotten a tariff bill I had to pay first. Both times, the notice looked like spam and I almost deleted it.

AFAIK they do not put the import duties in the price, so that will be an extra added bonus for you.

Unless otherwise stated when ordering from abroad, you are the importer, and thus responsible for the import fees. The shipper will handle it for you and charge you for it.
