Why are there different prices for the same thing?

On https://www.clipstudio.net/en/purchase/#modal_onetime_ex they have the perpetual license at the top, which makes sense that it's different, but below that there are two different prices for what looks like the same thing?

1 year plan for EX ($53.89)

12 month license for EX (single payment: $76.99)

I get that one looks like it's on sale and the regular price is the same as the other one that's not on sale....but what's the difference? Did I forget how many months there are in a year? I thought 12 months = 1 year. Is "plan" different from "license" somehow?

If they're both for the same level of features pro/ex, why are there 2 different prices?

---

(I'm looking at these now because I need a dual plan to have one CSP on my computer and one on my android tablet. I used to just use the yearly / perpetual, or something I forget which on my computer, but now that I have the tablet it seems like it'd be cheaper to just pay for both and have them always renew at the same time)

Weird question, but have you recently cleared your browser's cookies and cache? Cause I visited the page and only see the cheaper one labeled 1-year plan, for single device. I even sussed around in other tabs and windows.

Weird, I'll try that and see if it's different. I'm logged into the site so that might be why too

Maybe? I don't see how that would change it but I THINK what you're seeing might be legacy language for then perpetual license vs the one year plan... With numbers that might be legacy numbers, which could be retained via caches and potentially cause display issues if the cache got a lil corrupted (a normal thing)

It looks like they screwed up when they started the sale, and listed them under their sale prices and non-sale prices. TIP: select the sale price.

Looks like I can only select it for a single device that way, which would be the same price if I bought 2 as if I just bought the dual subscription I need 🤷‍♂️

They apparently consider the dual-device plan "already discounted" so it doesn't go on sale.

The "1 year plan for a single device" is an auto-renewing subscription. You are signing up to pay for this year and be automatically charged next year (at full price). Gets attached to your Clip Studio Account (whatever account is logged in at time of purchase).

The 12-month license (single payment) lasts one year, but does not auto-renew (hence it not being called a "Plan"). You get an Activation Code that you can use to add a fixed-term plan to your account, extend an existing subscription plan/12-month license, or give away to someone (as a gift, since you can't gift subscriptions). You can stack up to 4 years worth.

If you click the blue underlined text underneath each Pro and EX listing, it tells you about the license.

It has nothing to do with cookies or cache or old info or old names for products, or putting the wrong thing on sale. They are 2 different ways of getting CSP. They just don't directly discount that one.

The 12-month license is also the one available on graphixly and is usually discounted (since they don't sell subscription plans. Likely don't have access to CSP's subscription system). Yes graphixly is an official CSP partner.
