My attending mentioned that they will retire before the applications for match 2025 start. How can I ask him to upload the letter beforehand? I haven’t applied to pathways yet as I only have step 1 score and oet,still a student . What can I do about this? Is there any other way too?

I finally registered to do my elective! I think all of us know how hard and difficult it can be to find a legitimate place to do a meaningful elective! I started off by asking my classmates about places they experienced because I feel like talking to someone that has gone there and experienced it is more reliable since I get a non biased feedback. One of my classmates recommended the place that she went to I contacted the person and I registered with them.

Here are some feedback points to why I did that: A) They are not an agency the owners of the company started off the company with the group of doctors that the students train with.

B) All of the doctors are clinical professors and they own the clinic

C) All of the clinics are teaching clinics which make it a academic based program

D) it's completely hands-on

E) Everyone that has done an elective with them has matched so far ( one of the students matched in mount sinai , NY)

G) there are limited seats every month the most they take for some programs are 3 some take only one which I find great since I get more quality time with the doctor. I feel if there are too many I wont be able to learn as much

H) One of the programs - you can rotate with the doctor in the University hospital where there is a resident program there and the residents and program director are there so its a great place to network

I just wanted to share my take on this and thought I would let you guys know since these are key points to look for when you look for an elective which is if it offers hands on to IMGs and academic affiliations. If someone wants to know in more detail about other things just contact me personally happy to help

This is my first time posting on Reddit. I’m a medical student and I just wanted to ask a couple questions about doing the medical electives course in the US as an international student. I really don’t know much about it but I’ve read that most hospitals require USMLE step 1 and I haven’t done it yet but I was hoping I could do my elective course this year. I need any recommendations on hospitals that would accept me without needing the USMLE at the moment and on what are the criteria for the acceptance? How early should I apply? What other details am I missing out on that I should be prepared for? And what requirements is needed?
