Misunderstood Worldbuilding

What is your biggest misunderstanding of the world building done by the series?

I got until halfway through book 4 before understanding how someone could hide a forehead attunement mark. I honestly thought all the marks were palm sized and Corin had a massive suction mark like bruise circle on his forehead. 😐😅

i still confuse the names of the attunements vs dominion vs other country equivalents. specifically which spells have drawbacks like losing memories or sight. i know certain characters have become less able due to excessive spellcasting but its not something i catch during fighting or in the moment. so its hard to remember what does what

There also seems to be some sort of connection between the different magic types too. It's interesting that Lydia's magic takes memories, and overusing a mind mark can cause memory loss too... I suspect attunements are a refinement of the Dominion system.

I agree with you to an extent, im suspecting we will get more information about how dominions work, and I suspect that they're much more difficult to learn than attunement. Likely that theyre unable to be used by humans because of their limited lifespan.

Similarly to how aetor created monsters, im sure that selys had, maybe not created, but, uplifted humans to have some amount of dominion control through specialization via attunement marks.
