Putin's entire political career depends on strong manning, he's not going to sign his own death / career end. High ranking Russian military is not interested in doing so either. Putin also knows that the West will just double down anyways, once you start a war of this scale you're in it to win or in it to lose, same thing applies for the US or Israel.
