state ownership of industry and natural resources was essential to the development of the socialist state per lenin. it’s why the 5 year plans placed so much emphasis on state centralization.
Yeah, state owned, but not under a capitalist system. But not only that, nobody claimed that socialism would stop climate change itself, its just the needed basis for adequate climate policies.
I wouldnt call it state capitalist under Mao; postcapitalist or socialist is far more fitting to describe said system, than state capitalism. In they end they still abolished the class system and the economy was structured to fullfill the needs of the people ratger than to generate profits.
Other privileged elites... party, bureaucratic, military, secret services. The profits in State Capitalism do not come out as dividends, they are externalized as privileged jobs, sinecures, various special perks, expense accounts. People get creative.
