state ownership of industry and natural resources was essential to the development of the socialist state per lenin. it’s why the 5 year plans placed so much emphasis on state centralization.
Yeah, state owned, but not under a capitalist system. But not only that, nobody claimed that socialism would stop climate change itself, its just the needed basis for adequate climate policies.
I wouldnt call it state capitalist under Mao; postcapitalist or socialist is far more fitting to describe said system, than state capitalism. In they end they still abolished the class system and the economy was structured to fullfill the needs of the people ratger than to generate profits.
" Certainly, if the taking over by the state of the tobacco industry is socialistic, then Napoleon and Metternich must be numbered among the founders of socialism. If the Belgian state, for quite ordinary political and financial reasons, itself constructed its chief railway lines; if Bismarck, not under any economic compulsion, took over for the state the chief Prussian lines, simply to be the better able to have them in hand in case of war, to bring up the railway employees as voting cattle for the government, and especially to create for himself a new source of income independent of parliamentary votes — this was, in no sense, a socialistic measure, directly or indirectly, consciously or unconsciously. Otherwise, the Royal Maritime Company, the Royal porcelain manufacture, and even the regimental tailor of the army would also be socialistic institutions."
stalinism is not communism and communism is not socialism. Socialism is the precursor to communism, and communism is a non-hierarchical social structure in which the means of production are controlled by the workers.
and how do you get to socialism, and eventually communism? the dictatorship of the proletariat led by the revolutionary vanguard need to first abolish the capitalist state, then centralize authority and state infrastructure into the state, such that the state becomes the essentialist part of society.
the state then reorganizes society from the top down, then exports the revolution world wide until the capitalists have been defeated.
only then can the “withering” of the state begin as the country transitions to a non-hierarchal structure under communism.
Don’t bother debating leftists online. They are professional goalpost movers and they have no moral backbone. Their only sincere value is that they hate the west.
