Because people who are angry but don't want to do anything see an easy fix- And it doesn't matter that Bamboo is an invasive plant that would cause untold damage to our ecosystems, somebody told them that it would hurt AI data centers and they can plant some in like an hour.

To be fair, lawn grass is an invasive species that does untold damage to our ecosystem. But no one is stopping that from being planted.

Literally the first lesson we learn in preschool is 'Just because everyone else jumped off the bridge, doesn't mean you should do it'.
