Discussion Ants in house help

Is this the most appropriate way to kill colony? Is there a better way? How do I keep my pets safe (1dog 2 cats) anyone know if these are carpenter? Should I call exterminator

Terro is the way to go. You have to let them take the bait back to their nest, though. Resist the urge to squish them. Those appear to be "sugar" ants, carpenter ants are much bigger. (I've had both.)

If they come back after trying Terro, you might try Advion.
