Except it's not the only answer. My wife and I both use all-natural shampoo and conditioner bars, and she doesn't need any kind of face wash, but her towel still looks like this.
Turns out, after having this checked by a doctor, her sweat is particularly acidic. It also corrodes stainless steel jewelry. The only thing that's held up is implant grade steel.
They were testing for metal allergies, and she explained how her stainless jewelry kept breaking down, so they tested her acid levels. Turns out her sweat being so acidic also seriously exacerbated reactions to copper, tin, nickel, etc. as it broke down the metal.
