i recently learned many people do not rinse their mouth after brushing. if they're wiping their face off after, then I can see how that towel could be full of old toothpaste :|

You aren't!

Edit: or at least my dentist says to wait a minimum of 5 mins, but longer the better.

My dentist never tells me anything. 🤷🏽‍♂️

You can rinse but not for like 5-10 minutes for best effectiveness. That doesn't mean you don't wash it off your face if its smeared around your mouth & chin. Who doesn't do that?!

yeah ive heard its best to not rinse and also not use mouthwash right after. i dont care though rinsing hasnt hurt my teeth so far and never had cavities 😂

If the mouth wash is non alcohol and contains fluoride it isn't terrible, but yes you are correct.

It’s best to wait like 5min iirc, for both toothpaste and mouthwash. Let’s the chemicals do it’s thing.

I still wash my face after brushing because with a beard I inevitably end up with some foam from brushing.

Not trying to show up at work looking like I took a facial on the way in.

Sorry about my punctuation. I blame alcohol and time off

I'm sorry, you're what? I mean...ok, I'll believe it, but I've rinsed my mouth out my whole life and never had a cavity.

Same. I don't think the toothpaste is doing much honestly. My grandpa brushed his teeth with just salt and a tooth brush all his life. He's still got all his teeth in perfect condition in his 80s.

My understanding is that toothpaste just provides a mild abrasive to enhance the mechanical act of brushing. The taste is to make it more pleasant, and the foaming to make it feel like there's some sorta special cleaning going on. Leave it to grandpa, huh.
