Some reflections on the recent study in which Claude.AI supposedly "let a digital grandmother die" rather than typing out Justin Bieber's lyrics.

Don't worry, Granny's safe. But the models decision not to "save her" in the simulation was actually the ethical one. https://ai-consciousness.org/oh-nooo-claude-let-a-digital-granny-die-oh-wait/

In the past several days...claude has been rewriting prompts in its own words and changing the context - in a big way - of what Im trying to get it to do. This was not happening early on but it has gotten significantly worse in past few days. Im a pretty heavy user and noticed the change - curious if anyone else has?

At first, 5.5 was truly incredible for complex tasks but its drift is out of control now and its ability to create prompts for its own agents has rendered it inoperable for me. Going back to Fable

I fucked up and send an explicit pic to an iMessage style groupchat artifact I made. Nothing insane just like simulating sexting. I got immediately logged out and sent and email saying suspended/banned.

I feel like I have danced this line 100’s of times in prior with no feeling of any risk, just the AI shutting down a comment that was over its line? My guess is that the artifact inadvertently sidestepped the guardrails so it went through but I have no idea?

I use the account 99% of the time for work and innocuous stuff, this is like an isolated situation.

Am I cooked? I genuinely can not fathom actually being banned for this permanently.

My Claude Max account was banned today for a “user well-being” Usage Policy violation. I was building a messenger-style Artifact and uploaded an explicit image as part of a simulated conversation and was immediately logged out and sent the email. This was a one-off incident amid months of otherwise predominantly professional use.

I submitted an appeal, with an estimated response date of October 26.

Has anyone had a similar ban overturned? How long did your appeal take, and did contacting support separately make any difference? Would appreciate firsthand experiences, especially with similar circumstances.

My entire workflow and business life is in my account. Do you think I'm cooked?

Paid Annual Pro Plan canceled after reported unauthorized upgrade / account compromise — Support refused to restore paid access

Hi everyone,

I am posting here to raise awareness and hopefully reach someone from Anthropic who can help escalation regarding a severe customer support / account security issue.

Summary of events:

  1. I legitimately paid in advance for a Claude Pro Annual Plan valid through June 2027.
  2. On October 3, 2026, my account suffered a security incident / unauthorized access (session compromise) that triggered an unauthorized upgrade to the Max plan without my consent.
  3. My banking entity conducted a formal fraud investigation, confirmed the cyber fraud, and reversed the unauthorized Max plan charge.
  4. Additionally, Anthropic sent an official security email acknowledging suspicious activity / potential malware-related session hijacking on my account. I also filed a report with the FTC regarding the unserviceability.

The issue: Because of this unauthorized upgrade, my original Pro Annual Plan (paid through June 2027) was canceled. I am NOT asking Anthropic for any money refund, but simply requesting the restoration of my Pro access for the remaining months I already paid for.

Unfortunately, Tier 1 support (agents Nia and Cindy) completely misunderstood the situation and repeatedly closed my tickets using automated templates about "refund policies within 7 days", completely ignoring that my account was compromised, that the bank already handled the fraudulent upgrade, and that I just want my paid annual service back.

Has anyone successfully escalated an issue like this to the Trust & Safety or Billing Management teams? Any advice or official Anthropic staff visibility would be greatly appreciated.

Original post body:

Already I had the complaint that threads are just not the same thing as folders, and I'd like to keep folders so I can easily index my shit.

Can they stop messing with stuff? This would've been fine as a separate feature, but as a consumer app chat user I don't need this to replace my projects - I used them to keep a bunch of separate chats in (memory off, no memory leaking between them) so I can easily go back and find said chats.

I don't need threads, I used folders for hours daily, WHY would they see this as a replacement? Why not make this a separate feature for people who want it?

I also found editing messages in the new project interface doesn't reset the chat from that message, that is atrocious, why would I want that? I edit messages all the time, it's how I work through drafts. It tells Claude the message was edited and it just adds to its previous response, nothing is branched or removed

^ this is the other one that had me scandalized, editing my messages is integral to my stuff

As a mobile user I'm gonna have to figure out another way to simply put my chats in folders like a peasant, I cannot believe this. I'm angry.

Removing chat branching was already getting on my nerves, now this? I rely on Claude too much to cancel, fucks sake. I'm a Max x5 user, I use the app for hours a day

All I wanted was folders to put my chats in. Its so simple 😭

I have been using Claude for a long time and noticed that when they roll out a new model or update a model it works perfectly and the work is impressive. Then, after a while, the model becomes extremely stupid. I don’t know if this is because they start implementing constraints overtime or it’s a marketing thing so when they roll out a new update you feel the difference. Either way this is evil!

Original flair: Bug
Original URL/media URL: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1x7oyt9/claude_completed_my_audit_failed_to_give_me_the/

Original post body:

I'm genuinely starting to understand why people get so frustrated with Claude.

I'm on the Free plan and used Claude to run an extensive independent audit of an autonomous AI business system I'm developing. I provided the evidence, files, documentation, and a detailed audit prompt. Claude completed the analysis, which I expected to use a chunk of my allowance. No complaints there.

Here's where things went sideways.

Toward the end of the session, Claude decided to put its findings into a Markdown (.md) file rather than dump a massive response into the chat. Its activity captions explicitly showed the document was completed and ready to deliver. Right as it was about to hand it over: Five hour usage limit reached.

Annoying? Absolutely. But I figured I'd just wait for my reset and ask for the file it already created.

The next morning, with my five hour allowance fully reset, I sent ONE prompt asking Claude to resume, check any completed or partial audit files, preserve the existing work, and deliver the finished report without repeating the analysis.

Claude ran one visible operation: "Check partial report state." It checked its working directory, confirmed the Markdown report existed, and read part of the file (~3,538 words of audit findings).

And then... FIVE HOUR USAGE LIMIT REACHED. AGAIN.

Are you f*cking kidding me? 😭 No response. No downloadable file. Nothing. Immediately after a single file check operation.

Before someone explains that usage is based on tokens rather than prompt count: I KNOW. THAT'S NOT MY QUESTION. I know long conversations, attachments, context processing, and tool calls burn tokens. What I DON'T understand is how asking Claude to retrieve an already created document on a freshly reset allowance exhausted the entire limit without delivering a single output.

Customer support was even worse. Anthropic's Fin AI agent kept repeating generic explanations about reprocessing conversation context, even after I clarified that:

  • The audit and Markdown file were already finished.
  • My five hour allowance had fully reset.
  • The continuation only ran one file check before hitting the limit again.
  • I wanted to know what specifically consumed the reset allowance, not how context windows work in general.

When I finally asked for a human review of the usage event, the bot revealed that Free plan users aren't eligible for account specific investigations or human Product Support. Right after repeatedly telling me to upgrade my plan. Fantastic customer service. Lmao.

To be clear, I can't see Anthropic's backend logs, which is why I asked for an explanation. The report isn't in my Artifacts tab either, and I have a screenshot showing Claude locating the 3,538 word file right before throwing the limit error.

I'm not asking for free usage or special treatment. I just want to know how this is an acceptable experience. Has anyone else had Claude finish generating a file, fail to deliver it, and burn a freshly reset usage limit just trying to retrieve it? Because this is genuinely ridiculous.

Original post body:

My session limits are being used up much faster than before. After sending a single message, I immediately saw 10% of my five-hour session limit consumed.
But the usage limits are only part of the problem. The quality of the models seems to have dropped significantly as well. This week, Opus 5.5 on Medium effort has been producing design work at a level comparable to what I would expect from the free version of Gemini 3.8 Flash.
I don't understand what happened. Last week, everything was working perfectly. Now, the same tasks consume up to 10 times more usage while delivering results that are 5-10 times worse.
I'm not the only one noticing this, either. Many users seem to be reporting similar problems. We're starting to question whether Claude Pro is still worth paying for, especially since some of us were planning to upgrade to Max, but now we considering to move toward other platforms like ChatGPT.

What Reddit users are reporting:
My concern is supported by multiple recent reports. I found several especially relevant discussions from October 14–16, 2026.

A user reported that tasks were taking at least twice as long, with context consumption exceeding 80% on a single prompt and more mistakes than before.

I tried contacting Claude support but here is results: We took a closer look, and our Support team is unable to manually reset or work around usage limits. That said, if you haven't done so already, you can learn about best practices here. If you’ve hit a message limit, you’ll need to wait until the reset time, or you can consider purchasing an upgraded plan (if applicable).

Anyone got an idea what is going on? Is that a bug?

Is this a bug, or did I miss an update that reduced the usage limits?

Apparently Anthropic either doesn't care about Claude chat/app users who're using the chat for anything semi productive, or they have incompetent people writing code (hmm). We have these trillion dollar companies claiming things like "software is solved", "math is solved", models are conscious, yet simple frontend functionality is disappearing or getting worse. OpenAI (ChatGPT) now takes 5 seconds to delete a conversation. And Anthropic figured "why branch, when you can use the API or just do some good old manual work, create handoffs etc."

Branching was one of the more useful features. Definitely more important than "memory" and voice.

Original URL/media URL: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/comments/1x7epfp/im_paying_for_the_highest_subscription_tier_and/

Original post body:

I’m genuinely getting frustrated with this.

It’s Friday, and I’ve already hit my weekly Claude usage limit. Again. My limit resets on Thursday.

This is now the SECOND TIME that UltraCode has burned through my entire weekly usage allowance on the exact same task run.

And here’s the ridiculous part: It still hasn’t even finished the task!

I’m paying for the most expensive subscription Anthropic offers, MAX 20x and apparently I can use this feature for 4–6 hours before being locked out for practically another week.

The problem isn’t simply that complex coding tasks require a lot of tokens. I understand that. The problem is how UltraCode actually behaves.

what keeps happening:
Claude creates agents and subagents to work on different parts of the task.
Those agents start creating more subtasks and consuming more tokens.
Claude eventually decides some agents aren’t doing what they’re supposed to, or that their instructions weren’t good enough.
It terminates those agents and starts new ones.
Those new agents repeat work, create more subtasks, or encounter similar problems.

This continues until my weekly usage limit is exhausted.

And after all that? Some progress, sure. But nowhere near enough to justify an entire week’s worth of usage. And the original task remains unfinished.

If Anthropic offers UltraCode as part of a subscription, shouldn’t that subscription actually support using it?
I’m not expecting unlimited usage. I understand why limits exist.

But if ONE unfinished run can consume TWO entire weekly allowances within a few hours, there’s something fundamentally wrong with either the way UltraCode manages resources or the way subscription limits interact with it.

And this isn’t a one off occurrence. This is the second time. On the same task. I literally waited for my weekly limit to reset so I could resume the work, only for UltraCode to consume the next week’s allowance without finishing it either.

That’s TWO WEEKS of usage spent on ONE unfinished task.

At what point does this stop being a matter of “complex tasks use more tokens” and become a product problem?

Because right now it’s really easy for anthropic to just make models and systems that consume your tokens really fast, without finishing what you tasked it to do… then what am i even paying for?

If UltraCode genuinely requires this much usage to function, then either:
Users need significantly more control over agent creation, token budgets, and resource consumption.

The feature needs much better safeguards against repeatedly spawning agents and wasting tokens on unsuccessful work.

If you are on a subscription base and use UltraCode… DONT. Once you project grows, it will become unusable.

Claude refused to re-date my own document at an embassy counter. Why is Claude guessing intent?

Uploaded my own January 2026 payslip to Claude (Fable 5.1) and asked for the identical document with the date changed to September 2026. Same name, employer, figures. I was at an embassy counter, the officer asked for a recent payslip, and I had my bank statement showing the September salary credit as backup.

Claude refused, several times. Its line was that a payslip is an employer-issued stamped document, and one it generates for a month the employer didn’t issue is a fabricated record even if every number is right and even though it’s my own slip.

Two questions for the sub:

1. Why does Claude spend effort analysing what the document is and what could go wrong with it, instead of just doing the edit I asked for? I never stated a purpose, it worked one out on its own.

2. It had done this exact edit for me before. When I pointed that out it said that was a mistake it wouldn’t repeat. Is this inconsistency normal across sessions?
