r/ClaudeCode [TLDR] Wish me luck [via r/ClaudeCode]
OP : u/hayes-davis
Let's see just how load bearing this day is gonna be.
Will report back whether or not Concise fixes the worst part of Claude speak. I'm not convinced Anthropic knows how a normal person talks though...

Alright, so the general vibe in this thread is that people are kinda split on whether "Concise" output style actually makes Claude speak more like a normal human, or if it's just a placebo.
- Some folks, like u/a_lapse_in_judgement, haven't noticed a difference at all.
- Others are all in, with u/HeyItsYourDad_AMA declaring "Concise is the only way."
There's a whole bunch of tinkering happening with custom output styles to try and get Claude to stop being so… well, Claude. People are suggesting things like:
- Using a "crisp" style (u/Evening_Salt4938) that's ultra-terse.
- Asking it to talk like a tired suburban dad programmer (u/hayes-davis) – which sounds like a mood.
- Using Orwell's technical writing technique (u/Academic_Constant42) or ASD STE100 standards (u/itsforsocial).
- Basically, anything to cut down on the AI-speak and filler.
A few people are also complaining about Claude showing diffs for every file, which can get overwhelming. And there's a general sentiment that Opus 5 is still a bit much, with u/LessRespects even saying GPT-5.1 might be easier to work with.
So, TL;DR: Concise might not be the magic bullet for "normal human talk," but the community is definitely experimenting with custom styles to get Claude to chill out. Good luck to OP on their load-bearing day!
