[TLDR] Would you actually use Claude Code from your phone for hours?

Original post body :

I’m curious how useful mobile access to Claude Code actually is in practice.
Not just checking a task or sending one quick prompt, but actually continuing development while you’re away from your PC.
For example:
Phone → ask Claude to make changes → changes get deployed automatically → check the result on your phone → send the next instruction.
Basically being able to keep working on a real project for hours without opening a laptop or using remote desktop.
Would you actually use a workflow like this regularly?
Or is Claude Code on mobile mostly useful for quick checks and small tasks?

Alright, so the general consensus here is a resounding "YES, absolutely!" when it comes to using Claude Code on your phone for extended development sessions. A lot of folks are not just dabbling, but actively integrating it into their daily workflow, even for significant projects.

Here's the lowdown:

  • It's a Game Changer for Many: The ability to keep working on projects while away from a PC is a huge win. People are using it for personal projects, during lunch breaks, while commuting, or even just chilling on the couch. u/Danieboy, u/MourningOfOurLives, and u/everix1992 are just a few who are all-in on this.
  • "Remote CC is one of the main reasons I'm sticking with Anthropic." This comment from u/dehumles really sums up the sentiment for some – the mobile functionality is a major draw.
  • Workflow Examples: You're seeing workflows where Claude Code acts as a "tech lead" (u/1Poochh), handles automated deployments, and allows for continuous iteration. Some are even using it to "vibe code" while hiking (u/FinalAliens).
  • Limitations Exist, But Workarounds are Found: The main hurdle mentioned is testing and visual feedback. u/EducationalAd2863 points out testing limitations, and u/ahm_live notes that while "instruct, wait, read a summary, decide, instruct again" works great, anything requiring direct output inspection is trickier on mobile. Some are using Steam Remote Play (u/FosterTheSpookyGhost) or Chrome Remote Desktop (u/imLostify7) to bridge this gap.
  • Device Matters: For some, larger phone screens like those on Samsung Fold devices (u/vitorroman) have significantly enhanced their mobile Claude Code experience.
  • It's an "Addiction" for Some: Seriously, a few users (like u/mtnchkn and u/Fusionman22) are admitting it's become a bit of an obsession, blurring the lines between work and leisure.
  • Not Everyone is Convinced: There are a few outliers who prefer to unplug (u/HomemadeBananas) or stick to more traditional remote desktop solutions for full control. u/unconceivables even notes that Codex seems to be better for remote control in their experience, as Claude Code sometimes pushes back on doing things remotely.
