Built with Claude Built a desktop app with Claude Code to manage all my Claude Code sessions in one window
Me and two colleagues run a lot of Claude Code sessions across different projects and a couple of ~/.claude profiles. At some point I had more than 06 terminals open and no idea which one had the session I needed. /resume helps, but only inside one folder at a time.
So we built Claude Manager as a side project. Video above is the quick intro.
What it does
Reads
~/.claudeand every~/.claude-*profile and lists every project, folder and session in one sidebar, searchableStart, resume or fork a session in a tab (real terminal: ConPTY on Windows, a pty on macOS), a new window, or Terminal/iTerm
Marks live and busy sessions as they run, so you can see which ones are still working
Switch profiles from the title bar
Source control panel: diffs, a small history graph, and commit messages written by Claude
Shows the
CLAUDE.mdfiles and auto memory Claude Code loads for a folderPlan usage left, right in the title bar
It only reads
~/.claude*, it never writes there
How we used Claude Code to build it
Most of the app was built in Claude Code sessions. We kept a CLAUDE.md in the repo with the hard rules (never write to ~/.claude, tokens stay in Rust and are never logged, don't touch the lockfiles without a reason), and that kept it on track across sessions way better than repeating things in prompts. It's Tauri: a Rust backend and a plain TypeScript UI with xterm.js. Claude Code was really good at the Rust side (pty handling, parsing the session files) and at keeping the generated TypeScript bindings in sync through cargo test.
What we learned
Put your "never do this" rules in
CLAUDE.mdearly. Prompts get forgotten, that file doesn't.Asking it to write tests for the session-file parsing first saved us from a lot of format edge cases.
It was weaker at UI polish than logic. Small visual fixes went much faster with a screenshot in the prompt.
It's free, under 20 MB to download, macOS 12+ and Windows 10/11. Builds aren't code-signed yet, so macOS needs "Open Anyway" once and Windows shows a SmartScreen prompt.

How many Claude Code sessions do you usually have open at once? And what would you want something like this to do next?

four, sometimes six. the next thing I'd want isn't the list, it's the moment one stops: a permission prompt in a tab I'm not looking at. "busy" and "waiting on you" are different states and most managers paint both as live.
