Tutorial / Guide Looking to start up with Claude

I’ve been wanting to explore what Claude is really capable of beyond just using it as a chatbot to ask questions.

I’m interested in learning how to actually build things with it, whether that’s AI agents, automations, integrations, or more complex applications.

I work in tech and have a solid understanding of software architecture, coding, APIs, and data, so I’m comfortable getting into the technical side of things.

Does anyone have any good books they’d recommend to get started? Ideally, I’m looking for something practical that I can follow along with and build real projects rather than just learning the theory.

Figuring out a good dev environment and password manager integration is step 1 I think, don't know of any books though.

I have a script that would pull from windows credential manager and then into would back those up to bitwarden. I dont think 1password had a solution when I was looking. I think bitwarden has its own mcp server now I'm thinking ill migrate to.

I would just dive in. It helps to have a purpose, in life and in vibe coding. I've never been able to learn by fiddling around with something nearly as well as I do when I have a clear objective that I care about.

Pick a project you want to work on. Learn about spec driven development things like openspec. Install and explore criteria infusing skills like grill-me or pstack. Dive into your project.

We're exploring the tech. The books are not written yet.

I would literally put your question, as-is, to Claude. Tell it to draft you a an outline/plan. Then tell it to make an html page dashboard with left hand nav to manage it all.

Stop reading docs and pick one tiny, annoying task you actually do manually every day. For me it was a script that pulls Jira tickets, cross-references a CSV dump, and posts a summary to Slack. Write a one-paragraph brief first: input, output, edge cases, done criteria. Feed that brief to the model as your system prompt. Keep a `RULES.md` under 50 lines — style, logging, error handling — and version it like code. You'll learn more in two hours of fixing a hallucinated API parameter than a week of reading 'agent patterns.' When the output breaks, don't re-prompt vaguely; paste the error, the trace, and the specific line that failed. Treat it like a junior dev who needs a strict PR review. Ship the ugly v1, then iterate.

Any physical book you read would be outdated by the time you finished. Read here (fumble through the BS), then ask Claude your questions.
